UML Use Case Diagram Tutorial

13:24
Learn how to make Use Case Diagrams in this tutorial. Both beginners and intermediate UML diagrammers will find all the necessary training and examples on systems, actors, use cases, and include and extend relationships. UML Use Case Diagrams show a system or application; then they show the people, organizations, or other systems that interact with it; and finally, they show a basic flow of what the system or application does. This tutorial explains the four main characteristics of Use Case Diagrams: systems, actors, use cases, and relationships. A system is whatever you’re developing. It could be a website, a software component, a business process, an app, or any number of other things. You represent a system with a rectangle. The next aspect of Use Case Diagrams are actors. An actor is going to be someone or something that uses our system to achieve a goal, and they're represented by a stick figure. Use Cases are elements that really start to describe what the system does. They're depicted with an oval shape and they represent an action that accomplishes some sort of task within the system. The final element in Use Case Diagrams are relationships, which show how actors and use cases interact with each other. There are different types of relationships (like association, include, extend, and generalization) that are represented by varying types of lines and arrows. —— Learn more and sign up: http://www.lucidchart.com Follow us: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lucidchart Twitter: https://twitter.com/lucidchart Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lucidchart LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/lucidsoftware

3 Situations that are Absolutely Perfect for Use Cases!

09:09
This is Laura Brandenburg from Bridging the Gap. Today, I want to talk about when to write a use case. Because I love use cases. Not everyone does, but they are a useful analysis tool and I can guarantee you, if you’re writing software of functional requirements today, and you’re not at least thinking in use cases, you are missing requirements. What are the scenarios that we need to be either writing a use case, or making sure we’re thinking strongly in use cases? What are the situations when we’re documenting functional or software requirements like that where we would use a use case? Read more: http://www.bridging-the-gap.com/when-would-you-write-a-use-case/

Business Analysis - Use Cases - Anna from Collective Genius

05:21
For our new videos join us at leadbychange.com I'm Anna from Collective Genius http://www.collective-genius.com and this is the BA Collective Webcast. There is an adage that a "classic" novel is one that everyone admires, but that no one has actually read. Were one simply adventurous enough to approach the subject matter, one would relish the simplicity and joy the experience would bring. Use cases, to a Business Analyst, are perhaps the most "classical" of tools. Use cases, like classic novels, are held in the highest regard, but rarely understood or properly executed upon. So, what is a use case exactly? A use case is a detailed description of a user's interaction with a system. That's it. It's pretty simple; somewhat general, and rather vague. But that's the way it should be. A use case really amounts to nothing more than plain old "documentation." It can be applied to a business process, a complex software system, your morning routine, a wedding ceremony, or a historical event. The only requirements are an "actor" and an object to be acted upon. A brief word about the term "actors." You will hear the term with some frequency. It is a core term to the Rational Unified Process or RUP. There are a lot of terms specific to RUP and other established processes and methodologies that can sometimes cause people to avoid use cases. The intent of this video is to encourage analysts that might not have considered using use cases to go ahead and do so. Don't let words like RUP, SDLC, methodology, process, and use case throw you off. So if you hear actor, feel free to replace the word in your own vernacular with user, analyst, person... whatever you want to call them. There is no right or wrong. The only right process and methodology to use is the one that is right for you and your environment. A use case consists of seven components: Name, Description, Pre-Conditions, Scenario, Results, Alternate Paths, and Additional Business Rules. • Name The name is the identifier for the use case in question. It should be represented in the form of an action. • Description The description expands on the name and provides additional detail regarding the actor and system's interaction. • Actors Actors are the individuals who will interact with the system. • Pre-Conditions Pre-conditions are criteria that must first be met prior to the execution of the scenario. Pre-conditions can be the successful execution of other use cases, or they can be assumptions. • Scenario The scenario is the anticipated series of actions and responses. Depending on the complexity of the use case, the scenario may be as simple as a couple of lines, or span several pages, but Length should be taken into consideration. If a use case is overly long, you may want to consider a means of dissecting the scenario into separate use cases. • Result The result is the final result of the actor system interaction and reflects the successful completion of the use case. • Alternate Paths The alternate paths are variations on the anticipated scenario and represent failures of the system interaction. • Additional Business Rules Business rules are rules that govern the use case. They should be presented within the scenario or within the alternate paths where they are contextually relevant. The Additional Business Rules section is the place to list additional business rules that govern the entire use case and do not have a location for inclusion within the context. For examples of these concepts and their applications, go to www.bacollective.com for the entire article. The use cases in the article are for you to review and use as a model. Remember, there is no right or wrong format for preparing use case documentation. The only right way is the way that works for your project team, your organization, and for you. Well that is it for today but the BA Collective does not stop. Stay tuned to the BA Collective for up coming Business Analysis videos and Articles at BACollective.com I'm Anna Klemp and this has been your BA Collective Webcast. http://www.bacollective.com http://www.collective-genius.com

What Techniques Do Business Analysts Use?

09:21
This KnowledgeKnugget™ (KK) is part of an eCourse "Business Analysis Defined". VIEW COURSE OUTLINE at http://businessanalysisexperts.com/product/video-course-business-analysis-defined/. Also available as Paperback or Kindle eBook at http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00K7MM50O/. DESCRIPTION: Although the field of IT Business Analysis offers great career opportunities for those seeking employment, some business analysis skills are essential for any adult in the business world today. For example, the task of defining the requirements for an IT solution is handed to Business Analysts as well as Subject Matter Experts, Developers, System Analysts, Product Owners, Project Managers, Line Managers, or any other business expert. Applying business analysis techniques to define their business needs results in much higher chances for a successful IT project. In this KnowledgeKnugget™ you will learn what business analysis techniques and tools are most commonly used around the world based on surveys of actual business analysts. This KnowledgeKnugget™ answers questions like: 1. What are the primary activities in business analysis? 2. What tools or techniques do they use? To view more IT requirements training, visit the Business Analysis Learning Store at http://businessanalysisexperts.com/business-analysis-training-store/. PARTIAL TRANSCRIPT: Business analysis is the process of studying a business or any other organization to identify business opportunities / problem areas and suggest potential solutions. A wide range of people with various titles, roles and responsibilities actually apply business analysis techniques within an organization. There are three fundamentally different flavors or levels of business analysis: 1. Strategic Business Analysis (aka Enterprise Analysis) (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/strategic-business-analysis/ ) 2. Tactical Business Analysis (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/tactical-business-analysis/) 3. Operational Business Analysis (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/operational-business-analysis/Operational Business Analysis) Strategic Business Analysis is the study of business visions, goals, objectives, and strategies of an organization or an organizational unit to identify the desired future. It encompasses the analysis of existing organizational structure, policies, politics, problems, opportunities, and application architecture to build a business case for change. This analysis employs business analysis techniques such as Variance Analysis, Feasibility Analysis, Force Field Analysis, Decision Analysis, and Key Performance Indicators to support senior management in the decision-making process. The primary outcome of this work is a set of defined, prioritized projects and initiatives that the organization will undertake to create the desired future. If the initiative includes the development of software using an Agile Software Development Methodology (SDM) (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/product/business-analysis-agile-methodologies/), strategic business analysis techniques identify themes and/or epics, and initiate a product backlog. Tactical Business Analysis is at the project or initiative level to flush out the details of the proposed solution and to ensure that it meets the needs of the business community. Commonly used business analysis techniques at this level include Stakeholder Identification (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/product/how-to-identify-stakeholders-it-projects/), Interviewing (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/product/requirements-elicitation-gathering-business-stakeholder-it-requirements/), Facilitation (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/product/how-to-facilitate-requirements-gathering-workshops/), Baselining, Coverage Matrices, MoSCoW Analysis (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/product/requirements-prioritization-two-simple-techniques/), Benchmarking, Business Rules Analysis, Change Management, Process and Data Modeling (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/product/business-data-modeling-informational-requirements/), and Functional Decomposition (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/product/video-course-exposing-functional-and-non-functional-requirements/). In an Agile environment, Tactical Business Analysis adds to the Product Backlog and/or Release Plans expressed in Themes, Business Epics, Architecture Epics, User Stories (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/product/video-course-writing-user-stories/), and User Story Epics. In a traditional setting, the primary outcome of Tactical Business Analysis is a set of textual and/or modeled Business and Stakeholder Requirements (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/product/video-course-writing-requirements/). ..........

How to analyze Healthcare data using Big data tool like pig, hadoop

19:10
Big Data in Healthcare Today A number of use cases in healthcare are well suited for a big data solution. Some academic- or research-focused healthcare institutions are either experimenting with big data or using it in advanced research projects. Those institutions draw upon data scientists, statisticians, graduate students, and the like to wrangle the complexities of big data. In the following sections, we’ll address some of those complexities and what’s being done to simplify big data and make it more accessible. In this video we will be solving few use cases Health Systems Without Big Data Most health systems can do plenty today without big data, including meeting most of their analytics and reporting needs. We haven’t even come close to stretching the limits of what healthcare analytics can accomplish with traditional relational databases—and using these databases effectively is a more valuable focus than worrying about big data. Currently, the majority of healthcare institutions are swamped with some very pedestrian problems such as regulatory reporting and operational dashboards. Most just need the proverbial “air and water” right now, but once basic needs are met and some of the initial advanced applications are in place, new use cases will arrive (e.g. wearable medical devices and sensors) driving the need for big-data-style solutions. In simpler terms, Big Data is a term given to large volumes of data that organizations store and process. However, it is becoming very difficult for companies to store, retrieve and process the ever-increasing data. If any company gets hold on managing its data well, nothing can stop it from becoming the next BIG success! The problem lies in the use of traditional systems to store enormous data. Though these systems were a success a few years ago, with increasing amount and complexity of data, these are soon becoming obsolete. User Stories vs Use Cases

06:38
If you are on an agile team, do you write user stories, use cases, or both? My take is that until you know how to think in use cases, you need to write them to be sure you’ve got a clear and complete view of the software or functional requirements. This is why we continue to teach use cases as a core, fundamental skill at Bridging the Gap. What’s your take? Leave a comment below. MBSE Rhapsody SysML Method #1 - Requirements Analysis and Use Cases

11:20
This is 10 minute video that shows a method accelerator plugin developed by MBSE Training and Consulting Ltd to speed up a light-weight SysML method to generate functional requirements from analysis of textual use case using an activity model. The method helper is an open source project developed by Fraser Chadburn. The method makes use of a little known feature in the Rhapsody Gateway for bi-directional synchronization of requirements from Rhapsody to Rational DOORS and is designed as a quick win for people new to MBSE with Rhapsody.

4 Representations of Use Cases in IBM Rational Rhapsody and OMG SysML/UML

06:18
This video uses one of the example models from my 3 day Mastering MBSE with OMG SysML and IBM Rational Rhapsody training to show 4 different forms for how use cases might be represented including structured text, an activity diagram, an interaction model with sequence diagrams, or an executable state machine model. The cool thing is that we’re free to use whatever you like. Neither SysML nor the UML specify how a use case shall look. The main thing to consider is that use cases take on a journey from analysis to design.

How to Analyse YouTube Data Using MapReduce | MapReduce Use Case | Hadoop Tutorials

16:18
How to Analyse YouTube Data Using MapReduce? | A Hadoop MapReduce Use Case Hello, and Welcome to ACADGILD! In this tutorial, you will learn to analyze data from YouTube using Hadoop MapReduce. Did you know that three hundred videos are uploaded to YouTube every single minute? And that these videos are made available to more than 1 billion YouTube users in 75 countries in 61 languages? Just imagine the volume of data that is generated on YouTube every minute, and how you can make use of this information to measure how well your video marketing efforts are faring. The YouTube data is publicly available and, thus, can act as a powerful tool for video marketers who wish to analyze their competitors’ videos too. Although, video uploaders may disable the option to make their statistics available to the public. Now, let us see how data from YouTube can be analyzed using Hadoop. The Data Set Column 1 gives the video I D of 11 characters. Column 2 gives information about the uploader of the video. Column 3 gives the number of days between when YouTube was established and the date when the video was uploaded. Column 4 gives information about the category of the video. Column 5 gives information about the length of the video. Column 6 states the number of views for the video. Column 7 gives the rating for the video. Column 8 gives the number of ratings received for the video. Column 9 gives the number of comments received for the video. Column 10 gives related video IDs for the video uploaded. Problem Statement 1 Here, we will collect information about the top 5 categories of videos for which maximum number of videos have been uploaded. Source Code from the Mapper, we need to get the video category as key and the final int value ‘1’, which will be passed to the shuffle and sort phase and will be further sent to the reducer phase where the aggregation of these values will be performed. In line 1, we are taking a class by the name Top 5 Address Code Categories In line 2, we are extending the Mapper default class that has the arguments: keyIn as LongWritable ValueIn as Text KeyOut as Text and ValueOut as IntWritable. In line 3, we are declaring a private Text variable ‘category’ which will store the category of videos on YouTube. In line 4, we are declaring a private final static IntWritable variable ‘one’, which will be constant for every value. MapReduce deals with Key and Value pairs. Here, we can set the key as gender and value as age In line 5, we are overriding the map method that will run one time for every line In line 7, we are storing the line in a string variable ‘line’ In line 8, we are splitting the line by using the Backward Slash t delimiter and are storing the values in a String Array so that all the columns in a row are stored in it In line 9, we are taking an if condition. If we have a string array of length greater than 6, which means that if the row has at least 7 columns, then such a string will enter into the if condition and execute the code to eliminate the ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException . In line 10, we are storing the category which is in 4th column In line 12, we are entering the key and value into context, which will act as the output of the MapReduce method. The Reducer Code Line 1 extends the default Reducer class with arguments like, KeyIn as Text and ValueIn as IntWritable, these are the same as the outputs of the mapper class. And KeyOut as Text and ValueOut as IntWritbale will be the final outputs of our MapReduce program. In line 2, we are overriding the Reduce method which will run each time for every key. In line 3, we are declaring an integer variable sum which will store the sum of all the values for every key. In line 4, a for each loop is taken which will run each time for the values inside the “Iterable values” that will come from the shuffle and sort phase after the mapper phase. In line 5, we are storing and calculating the sum of these values. Line 7 will help write the respected key and the obtained sum as value to the context. The Configuration Code Two configuration classes are included in the main class to clarify the output key type of the mapper and the output value type of the mapper How to Execute? Here, ‘Hadoop’ specifies that we are running a Hadoop command, jar specifies the type of application we are running, and top 5.jar is the jar file which has been created that consists of the above source code. The path of the Input file in our case is root directory of HDFS that is denoted by Forward Slash YouTubedata.txt and the output file location to store the output has been given as top 5 Address Code out. Just watch the video completely to get all the other outputs! Learn Hadoop today and stay ahead of your competitors! Data science making real money: a selection of interesting use cases - Michał Kudelski

31:28
Description We will show several interesting examples of data science and machine learning techniques solving real-life business issues for customers of SAS Institute. Within this context, we will also demonstrate how SAS analytics platform and Python can work together. Abstract For those who say that business applications of data science are boring, I will try to show that quite the opposite is true :-) Within this short presentation I will demonstrate use cases where ordinary tasks, such as revenue optimization, can become more inviting. We will briefly see: - data from thousands of trucks analyzed in real-time, - deep neural networks analyzing telco data, - and more... Finally, I will show how Python and SAS can work together to make it happen. www.pydata.org PyData is an educational program of NumFOCUS, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in the United States. Zen-RUCM: A Tool for Supporting a Comprehensive and Extensible Use Case Modeling Framework

04:00
The Restricted Use Case Modeling (RUCM) approach is composed of a set of well-defined restriction rules and a new template, aiming to reduce ambiguity and facilitate automated analysis. Zen-RUCM is an RUCM-based framework to tackle the challenges of requirement specification in different application domains (e.g., real-time systems) and from various requirement specification concerns (e.g., variability). In this demonstration, we discuss an implementation of the Zen-RUCM framework with the focus on its lightweight design architecture and extension mechanism.
