MCTS 70-680: Windows7 Bare Metal Restore using a system image

14:44
This video looks at restoring your Windows 7 using a system image saved to the network using Windows Backup and Restore. Check out http://YouTube.com/ITFreeTraining or http://itfreetraining.com for more of our always free training videos. In this case, the original image is taken from a Hyper-V virtual machine and then restored to a VMware virtual machine. Both virtual machines have different hardware and the restore is a Bare Metal Restore to different hardware. Demonstration 01:45 To be able to recover Windows 7 using Backup and Restore, you need to ensure that the backup you performed had a system image included or you manually created a system image. A system image will save all the file and folders on the hard disk to a VHD file. Backup and Restore also supports a file and folder style backup. Because of this, the system image could be used to recover your operating system. If there were changes made to the user documents file since the system image was performed and the File and Folder style backup was run, this backup can be used to restore the user files while the system image can be used to restore the operating system. This video will look at using both to restore the operating system. It should be pointed out however, if your system image backup is up to date, this is the only backup that you need to use to restore the system. Demo Backups in Windows 7 are done using the Backup and Restore utility. This can be found in the control panel under "system and security." A system image backup can be included in a backup or can be performed manually by selecting the option on the left hand side, "create a system image backup." In this video, a system image is saved to the network. When saving a system image to the network, the one image file can only support one backup instance. This is because this feature required some features of NTFS that are not supported when connecting to a network share. In other words, incremental changes to the system image are not recorded. A system image performed over the network will only contain the one system image with the files from the last time it was run. If you were to the save the system image on a drive that had NTFS, a history of system images would be present with the number of revisions depending on how much space the hard disk had. To restore the operating system on another computer with different hardware, you need software to boot the computer. In Backup and Restore you can create a system repair disc. If you have the original Windows 7 DVD, you can use that to boot and select the option "repair your computer" on the welcome screen. Regardless of whether you use the repair disc or the Windows 7 disc, select the option from the system recovery options to restore your computer using a system image that you created earlier. Once you browse to the system image, it will be used to recover your computer. Once the system image has been copied to the new computer, you can also restore additional user documents that have been backed up using the file and folder backup. If Backup and Restore can't restore particular files because they are in use, logout and login as another user and perform the restore using that user.

System Restore In Windows 10 COMPLETE Tutorial

10:41
System Restore Windows 10 tutorial. System Restore in Windows 10 will help restore your computer to an earlier time and date. Description Provided By Microsoft: What is System Restore? System Restore is designed to automatically monitor and record changes made to the core Windows system files and to the registry. System Restore can then allow you to undo (or "roll back") a change that caused instability in your system. This is accomplished by periodically recording a "Restore Point" (or System CheckPoint) that gives you the ability to roll your system back to the point in time when your computer was known to function properly. System Restore is not intended to be an "uninstaller" or a backup program. If Windows does not function properly after installing software or drivers, you should use the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel (or use the program's uninstaller) to remove the software before using System Restore. Monitored File Types System Restore monitors most system files with .exe, .vxd, .dll, .com, and .sys extensions. It does not monitor user-created files (for example, files that have .txt, .doc, or .xls extensions), the My Documents folder, Temporary Internet files (including the Internet Explorer History, Cookies, or Favorites files), the Recycle Bin, or the Windows Swap (.swp) file. This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops, and tablets running the Windows 10, Windows 8/8.1, Windows 7 operating systems.Works for all major computer manufactures (Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba, Lenovo, Samsung).

MCTS 70-680: Windows7 System Restore Points

12:10
A system restore point takes a snap shot of your system. If any changes are made to the system files, registry or program files after this, the system can be reverted back to the previous system restore point. If a change is made to user documents, this can also be recorded. This will be covered in the next video. If you have software that will not uninstall, a problematic driver or your system is infected with Malware, a system restore point can take your system back to a time before this occurred and hopefully prevent you from having to reinstall your system. Reverting back to a previous system restore point does not affect your documents. System restore point demo 03:41 System Protection In Windows 7 System Restore Points and another feature covered in the next video called Previous Versions are grouped together under system protection. If you are using different versions of Windows, these features are separate from each other. To find them, look for system restore points, previous versions or shadow copies. Restore points A restore point is a snapshot of the system. It records the current state of the system which includes registry, system files, program files and changes to user documents. It uses a cache, the size of which can be changed. The cache is first in first out. To make room for new restore points, the oldest restore point will be removed. A restore point can be created manually; however, they are also automatically created on start-up, at midday or when a significant system change occurs. Examples are when a non WHQL device driver is installed, Windows update is installed or application software is installed. Using system restore points If your system is bootable, you can access a system restore point through system protection. To access system protection, open the control panel and select system and security and then select system. Inside system select the option on the left hand side system protection. On this screen you will be able to select the option system restore to launch the system restore wizard. Before the system is restored using the restore point, another restore point is created so that you can go back if restoring to that restore point makes things worse. If your system is not bootable or very unstable, you can use a system repair disc or the Windows 7 setup DVD to access restore points. You can create a system repair disc by launching create a system repair disc from the start menu. You don't have to create the system repair disc on the same computer that you are going to use it on. If you use the Windows 7 setup DVD, select the option from the setup wizard "repair your computer." Regardless of which option you use, when asked select the option "System Restore." When you restore the system using this method, a restore point will not be created before the restore is performed, thus you can't undo the changes. Ubuntu boot menu not visible after installing Windows operating system/ Recover Ubuntu

03:07
Only Windows operating systems are listed in Boot Loader. How to get Ubuntu boot option. How to make Ubuntu visible in Boot menu using EasyBCD. Watch this video, which is the solution for this problem. I have installed Ubuntu alongside Windows operating system. So, Whenever i start the computer, GNU GRUB boot loader will display and give me the option to boot both the Ubuntu and Windows operating systems. When i installed Windows Server 2008 R2, and start the computer, Windows boot manager or boot menu is displaying with the option to boot only Windows operating systems and not showing Ubuntu or no way to boot into Ubuntu. Solution: Download and install EasyBCD 2.2. From Easybcd, Add new entry for linux ubuntu, select type "GRUB 2" and choose the partition drive where the Ubuntu is installed. It is better to select "Automatically locate and load". Save changes, so you can see Ubuntu in the bootloader menu. This time, when you start the computer, Windows boot manager will display and give you the option to boot both the Windows and ubuntu operating system. Note: Windows can be boot from the windows boot manager, but Ubuntu should be from the GNU GRUB Bootloader.

How to Create a Recovery Drive Windows 10 (Official Dell Tech Support)

01:30
Learn how to create a recovery drive Windows 10 in a few clicks. Create a USB recovery drive to help you with troubleshooting and restoring your computer. You will need to use an empty USB drive. For more information please visit http://dell.com/support For support questions email us at [email protected] VIDEO TRANSCRIPT Welcome to Dell Tech Support. Windows 10 allows you to create a recovery drive, which is useful when you are having computer issues. With it, you will be able to troubleshoot and even restore your computer if necessary. The recovery media also gives you access to Windows advanced startup options. To open the recovery drive creation tool, in the Start Menu type Recovery. Look for the option Create a Recovery Drive and click on it. Click YES to allow changes. The Recovery Media Creator will open on your desktop. Make sure the box to back up system files is checked and then click Next. After the Recovery Drive is configured, you will be prompted to select Connect a USB Drive (using an empty USB drive with at least 4GB is highly recommended). Insert your USB drive, and then click Next. When ready, click the Create button to have the files copied to your USB drive and wait. After the process is complete, if your computer came with a recovery partition (a recovery partition is present in most computers; but not in some systems that have been modified), you will be asked if you want to delete the recovery partition. You can copy it to your recovery drive. This process uses much more space, so you will need USB drive with ample capacity (it is recommended to use a USB drive with at least 16GB of memory). After you copy the recovery partition, Windows will ask you if you want to delete the recovery partition on the hard drive. If you do delete this recovery partition, you will need this USB drive to refresh and reset your PC in the future. If you have any questions or need help, contact our social media support through Facebook or Twitter. Thanks for watching and be sure to subscribe to our channel. See you next time!

Tutorial- restore windows operating system from the recovery partition boot into/use an hp recovery partition to factory reset/restore your windows pc to it's original factory condition/settings by pressing f11 to boot the factory recovery partition image to re-install your computers original factory software and operating system. YOU SHOULD BACK UP ALL YOUR DATA FIRST and make sure your notebook is plugged in before booting from this partition volume. It might take longer than an hour to complete! All of your user files will be lost if you don't back them up first. All files created after you purchased your notebook/computer, and all programs you installed after your purchase will be lost without backing up FIRST. This partition is a very easy way to recover your system to it's original factory state. It is an original factory image used for system recovery. Works great if your system has a virus or has spyware. After re-installing windows it should be automatically activated for you. You will just need to go into the control panel and uninstall all of the old programs and trial edition software that originally came with your PC that the recovery partition restored. Then download all of Microsoft Windows latest updates.
