The U.S. Stock Exchanges

02:19
The U.S. Stock Exchanges The U.S. stock market comprises three major stock exchanges for day trading. Stock exchanges are businesses that make their profits from commissions and services. The stock exchanges compete among themselves by appealing to different business niches. Each stock exchange has its own unique specialties, technologies, advantages, and, of course, disadvantages. If you’re looking for an introduction to day trading in the US, here’s your basic guide. Meet the New York Stock Exchange The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) is located on the corner of Wall and Broad streets. It is the largest stock exchange in the world, based on the market value of the companies traded on it, and therefore the highest number of day traders participate on this exchange. The market value, known as market capitalization or “market cap,” multiplies the number of publicly held shares of stock by the exchange-traded price of each share. The market cap of stocks traded in the NYSE exceeded $21 trillion as of June 2017. The NYSE trading list comprises more than 3,000 companies. It wasn't so long ago that NYSE market orders were handled by humans known as floor traders. In those days, the execution time of an NYSE transaction could take up to two minutes. But the unavoidable has happened to the world's largest stock exchange. The revolution started slowly. Nasdaq, the United States’ first computerized stock exchange, became the model when it began operations in 1971. It took some time, but computers have now taken over most processes at the NYSE, despite strong opposition by the day traders. Computerized day trading has provided exactly what the public wanted: greater competition, fewer commissions, greater transparency, and higher execution speed. Meet the Nasdaq The Nasdaq (formerly known as NASDAQ when it was an acronym for National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations) was established in 1971 as the world's first electronic stock exchange. Unlike the NYSE, it immediately computerized all of its trade processes. From that point on, day traders no longer needed to compete over each other’s shouts on the trading floor. Everything was push-button. The result: commissions slowly dropped, the quality of service improved, competition grew, and companies of a new type issued stocks and raised trillions of dollars. Within two decades, and with the proliferation of the internet, Nasdaq was accessible in the home of every trader. For the first time, the road to private trading was opened, day trading classes were being offered as were more services for beginner day traders. We can, in fact, say that the profession of day trading as we know it was born with Nasdaq’s founding. Meet the NYSE American The NYSE American was first established in 1842 as the American Stock Exchange. The NYSE acquired this stock exchange in 2008. NYSE American is now the NYSE's market for small-cap companies. Like the NYSE, it now has moved its processes to quick, effective computerized execution. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe for NEW You Tube trading lesson here: https://youtube.com/user/TradenetGlobalUK?sub_confirmation=1 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Helpful links: Join my trading group: Get education & a Funded Account: http://www.tradenet.com/join-funded-accounts/?affiliate_id=35955&affiliate_org=2&web_page=&placement=&campaign_id=7010O000000fKjw Watch my FREE live You Tube streaming Trading Room: https://www.youtube.com/c/TradenetGlobalUK/live Join a FREE 14 day trial in my live Trading Room: https://www.tradenet.com/14-day-free-trial/?affiliate_id=35955&affiliate_org=2&web_page=&placement=&campaign_id=7010O000000fKjw Watch all my lessons here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLb9tmPwCEfFjZWiIEYa4BfF4BZX0F0mWz View the FREE "Part one" of my trading book "The Market Whisperer" here: http://books.tradenet.com/ Buy my best selling book at Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1540353524 Open a Colmex account (Non-US residents): https://services.colmexpro.com/registration/start.aspx Watch all my day trading live videos at: http://www.youtube.com/user/TradenetGlobalUK/videos Contact Tradenet: [email protected] Contact Meir Barak: [email protected] Visit our website: www.tradenet.com Germany: www.tradenet.de
How Electronic Trading Is Changing Tomorrow's Trading Floor

05:48
This is what many envision when they think of a trading floor like the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX); however, the day-to-day life of a floor trader has changed drastically from the old days as electronic trading becomes the new norm. Jeff Grossman, President of BRG Brokerage Inc., has been working on the floor of NYMEX just about longer than anyone and has seen first-hand how the exchange has gone from a roaring trading floor, to what is now just a small band of traders who are losing their voice to electronic trading. What began as the Butter and Cheese Exchange in 1872 evolved to the New York Mercantile Exchange in 1882: the world's largest physical commodity futures exchange and a preeminent forum for energy and metals trading. NYMEX once held a virtual monopoly on commodity trading, but in the early 2000s the electronically based exchanges, such as the Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (ICE), started taking away the business of the open outcry markets. Although executives at NYMEX felt that electronic trading was the only way to keep the exchange competitive, most open outcry traders were against it because it threatened their jobs. In 2006, NYMEX teamed up with the Chicago Mercantile Exchange to use the CME Globex electronic trading platform, which made CME the exclusive electronic trading services provider for NYMEX's energy futures and options contracts through 2016. CME Group Inc. (NASDAQ: CME), which also owns the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and Chicago Board of Trade, acquired NYMEX Holdings, Inc. in 2008. Since then, the trading pits have emptied out as mostly computers are now performing the bids. Grossman is one of the few traders trying to preserve the open outcry system.

Zimbabwe Stock Exchange electronic trading plans flop

01:50
Plans to roll out electronic trading at the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange on the 3rd of July flopped, after a technical hitch. The main index there has fallen by around 11% in the first half of 2015. As CCTV's Farai Mwakutuya reports, the move to automated trading was supposed to attract more investors to the depressed market by making it easier and more efficient, to trade.

How To Choose a Market to Trade

03:11
Choosing a market is perhaps the most important decision a trader can make. With thousands of tradable assets to choose from, the choice can be a daunting one for anybody. Should you trade shares or commodities? Forex or indices? In this video, IG’s Sara Walker guides you through some of the steps you should take in your decision making process, which will help you pick a market that you can trade successfully. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Watch more educational videos - http://bit.ly/EducationPlaylist Try our Demo Platform - http://bit.ly/SingaporeDemoAccount ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Wikipedia: A financial market is a market in which people and entities can trade financial securities, commodities, and other fungible items of value at low transaction costs and at prices that reflect supply and demand. Securities include stocks and bonds, and commodities include precious metals or agricultural goods. In economics, typically, the term market means the aggregate of possible buyers and sellers of a certain good or service and the transactions between them. The term "market" is sometimes used for what are more strictly exchanges, organizations that facilitate the trade in financial securities, e.g., a stock exchange or commodity exchange. This may be a physical location (like the NYSE, BSE, NSE) or an electronic system (like NASDAQ). Much trading of stocks takes place on an exchange; still, corporate actions (merger, spinoff) are outside an exchange, while any two companies or people, for whatever reason, may agree to sell stock from the one to the other without using an exchange. Trading of currencies and bonds is largely on a bilateral basis, although some bonds trade on a stock exchange, and people are building electronic systems for these as well, similar to stock exchanges. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Disclaimer: The comments in this video are intended by IG Asia Pte Ltd for general circulation. Why are there stocks at all? Everyday in the news we hear about the stock exchange, stocks and money moving around the globe. Still, a lot of people don't have an idea why we have stock markets at all, because the topic is usually very dry. We made a short video about the basics of the stock exchanges. With robots. Electronic Trading, Securities Markets, the NYSE and the NASDAQ: Market Structure (2001)

01:46:54
Electronic trading, sometimes called etrading, is a method of trading securities (such as stocks, and bonds), foreign exchange or financial derivatives electronically. Information technology is used to bring together buyers and sellers through an electronic trading platform and network to create virtual market places such as NASDAQ, NYSE Arca and Globex which are also known as electronic communication networks (ECNs). Electronic trading is rapidly replacing human trading in global securities markets. Electronic trading is in contrast to older floor trading and phone trading and has a number of advantages, but glitches and cancelled trades do still occur. One of the earliest examples of widespread electronic trading was on Globex, the CME Group’s electronic trading platform conceived in 1987 and launched fully in 1992.[3] This allowed access to a variety of financial markets such as treasuries, foreign exchange and commodities. The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) produced a rival system that was based on Oak Trading Systems’ Oak platform branded ‘E Open Outcry,’ an electronic trading platform that allowed for trading to take place alongside that took place in the CBOT pits. Set up in 1971, NASDAQ was the world's first electronic stock market, though it originally operated as an electronic bulletin board[citation needed], rather than offering straight-through processing (STP). By 2011 investment firms on both the buy side and sell side were increasing their spending on technology for electronic trading.[4] With the result that many floor traders and brokers were removed from the trading process. Traders also increasingly started to rely on algorithms to analyze market conditions and then execute their orders automatically.[5] The move to electronic trading compared to floor trading continued to increase with many of the major exchanges around the world moving from floor trading to completely electronic trading.[6] Trading in the financial markets can broadly be split into two groups: Business-to-business (B2B) trading, often conducted on exchanges, where large investment banks and brokers trade directly with one another, transacting large amounts of securities, and Business-to-consumer (B2C) trading, where retail (e.g. individuals buying and selling relatively small amounts of stocks and shares) and institutional clients (e.g. hedge funds, fund managers or insurance companies, trading far larger amounts of securities) buy and sell from brokers or "dealers", who act as middle-men between the clients and the B2B markets. While the majority of retail trading in the United States happens over the Internet, retail trading volumes are dwarfed by institutional, inter-dealer and exchange trading. However, in developing economies, especially in Asia, retail trading constitutes a significant portion of overall trading volume.[citation needed] For instruments which are not exchange-traded (e.g. US treasury bonds), the inter-dealer market substitutes for the exchange. This is where dealers trade directly with one another or through inter-dealer brokers (i.e. companies like GFI Group and BGC Partners. They acted as middle-men between dealers such as investment banks). This type of trading traditionally took place over the phone but brokers moved to offering electronic trading services instead. Similarly, B2C trading traditionally happened over the phone and, while some still does, more brokers are allowing their clients to place orders using electronic systems. Many retail (or "discount") brokers (e.g. Charles Schwab, E-Trade) went online during the late 1990s and most retail stock-broking probably takes place over the web now.[2] Larger institutional clients, however, will generally place electronic orders via proprietary electronic trading platforms such as Bloomberg Terminal, Reuters 3000 Xtra, Thomson Reuters Eikon, BondsPro, Thomson TradeWeb or CanDeal (which connect institutional clients to several dealers), or using their brokers' proprietary software. For stock trading, the process of connecting counterparties through electronic trading is supported by the Financial Information eXchange (FIX) Protocol. Used by the vast majority of exchanges and traders, the FIX Protocol is the industry standard for pre-trade messaging and trade execution. While the FIX Protocol was developed for trading stocks, it has been further developed to accommodate commodities, foreign exchange, derivatives, and fixed income trading. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_trading Image By Luis Villa del Campo from Madrid, Spain (Times Square - NASDAQ) [CC-BY-2.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0)], via Wikimedia Commons

Which trading platform or broker would you recommend for a new trader?

05:36
Which trading platform or broker would you recommend for a new trader? ★ SUMMARY ★ There’s no such thing as the best broker It’s not that one specific broker is the best broker. Just like choosing a car, whether that’s a convertible, a sedan, a van, a truck, every car vehicle is going to be different for that type of person along with the different color choices and options that you want. It is going to come down to the type of trading that you personally do. The cheapest is not always the best choice Typically, initially, most people choose a broker based on fees, meaning commission rates, they want to choose lower commission rates, but this is not always the best way to choose a broker. Customer support is important Look for the cheapest after you have the experience Most brokers will negotiate their rates Posted at: http://investinghelpdesk.com/26-which-trading-platform-or-broker-would-you-recommend-for-a-new-trader ★ SHARE THIS VIDEO ★ https://youtu.be/07uu5F_MTEY ★ SUBSCRIBE TO MY YOUTUBE: ★ http://bit.ly/addtradersfly ★ ABOUT TRADERSFLY ★ TradersFly is a place where I enjoy sharing my knowledge and experience about the stock market, trading, and investing. Dark Pools: Private Electronic Stock Trading - Financial Markets, Securities, Investors (2012)

01:21:20
Some markets allow dark liquidity to be posted inside the existing limit order book alongside public liquidity, usually through the use of iceberg orders. More on dark pools: https://www.amazon.com/gp/search?ie=UTF8&tag=tra0c7-20&linkCode=ur2&linkId=f90378849d15aadf8ed8f0403284942f&camp=1789&creative=9325&index=books&keywords=dark%20pools Iceberg orders generally specify an additional "display quantity"—i.e., smaller than the overall order quantity. The order is queued along with other orders but only the display quantity is printed to the market depth. When the order reaches the front of its price queue, only the display quantity is filled before the order is automatically put at the back of the queue and must wait for its next chance to get a fill. Such orders will, therefore, get filled less quickly than the fully public equivalent, and they often carry an explicit cost penalty in the form of a larger execution cost charged by the market. Iceberg orders are not truly dark either, as the trade is usually visible after the fact in the market's public trade feed. Truly dark liquidity can be collected off-market in dark pools. Dark pools are generally very similar to standard markets with similar order types, pricing rules and prioritization rules. However, the liquidity is deliberately not advertised—there is no market depth feed. Such markets have no need of an iceberg-order type. In addition, they prefer not to print the trades to any public data feed, or if legally required to do so, will do so with as large a delay as legally possible—all to reduce the market impact of any trade. Dark pools are often formed from brokers' order books and other off-market liquidity. When comparing pools, careful checks should be made as to how liquidity numbers were calculated—some venues count both sides of the trade, or even count liquidity that was posted but not filled. Dark liquidity pools offer institutional investors many of the efficiencies associated with trading on the exchanges' public limit order books but without showing their actions to others. Dark liquidity pools avoid this risk because neither the price nor the identity of the trading company is displayed.[7] Dark pools are recorded to the national consolidated tape. However, they are recorded as over-the-counter transactions. Therefore, detailed information about the volumes and types of transactions is left to the crossing network to report to clients if they desire and are contractually obligated.[8] Dark pools allow funds to line up and move large blocks of equities without tipping their hands as to what they are up to. Modern trading platforms and the lack of human interaction have reduced the time scale on market movements. This increased responsiveness of the price of an equity to market pressures has made it more difficult to move large blocks of stock without affecting the price.[9] Dark pools are run by private brokerages which operate under fewer regulatory and public disclosure requirements than public exchanges.[10] Tabb Group estimates trading on the dark pools accounts for 32% of trades in 2012 vs 26% in 2008. For an asset that can be only publicly traded, the standard price discovery process is generally assumed to ensure that at any given time the price is approximately "correct" or "fair". However, very few assets are in this category since most can be traded off market without printing the trade to a publicly accessible data source. As the proportion of the daily volume of the asset that is traded in such a hidden manner increases, the public price might still be considered fair. However, if public trading continues to decrease as hidden trading increases, it can be seen that the public price does not take into account all information about the asset (in particular, it does not take into account what was traded but hidden) and thus the public price may no longer be "fair". Yet when trades executed in dark pools are incorporated into a post-trade transparency regime, investors have access to them as a part of a consolidated tape. This can aid price discovery because institutional investors who are reluctant to tip their hands in lit market still have to trade and thus a dark pool with post-trade transparency improves price discovery by increasing the amount of trading taking place. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_pool

HK Traders Bid Farewell to Iconic Stock Exchange Trading Floor

02:02
Traders and guests gathered at the trading floor of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange Friday for one last time to commemorate its three decades' services as the era of trading floor came to an end. It was a festive atmosphere for a bitter-sweet farewell party, where the traders said goodbye to the city's historic trading hall. The trading floor opened in 1986. In its heyday, over 1,400 traders, in the requisite red vests, crowded into the booths. One former trader said back then one needed a loud voice, a clear memory and a good relationship with other traders to get deals done. They shouted through the 1987 "Black Monday" crash, the dot-com bubble, the "SARS" outbreak and other historic market events. Electronic trading introduced in 1993 marked a shift away from those face-to-face deals, and a major upgrade in 2000 that let brokers offer services online made floor trading obsolete. Recently only about 30 traders could be found on the floor on any given day, and the atmosphere is definitely more subdued. Still Friday's event was tinged with nostalgia. "Of course it's a shame. I grew up here. I've been here since the start [of the trading floor]," said a former trader. "It's a big shame. After all this is Hong Kong's local culture and part of our heritage. Of course it's better if we have it, but if we don't we still have to look forward," said another former trader. The closure of the Hong Kong trading floor means the New York Stock Exchange is the only major world stock exchange to still have a floor. Hong Kong Stock Exchange officials do not want the city's history as a commercial and financial hub to be forgotten. Once the traders move out, renovators will move in to remake the space into a museum and conference and exhibition center. "We're all looking to the future. We're going to convert this into something that not only reminds us of the great memories and great history that we have had, but also allow us to proceed into the future and allow this place, right in the heart of Hong Kong, to become a real landmark of the financial community in Hong Kong," said Charles Li, chief executive of Hong Kong Stock Exchange. http://www.cctvplus.com/news/20171030/8064889.shtml#!language=1 Subscribe us on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/CCTVPlus CCTV+ official website: http://www.cctvplus.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/cctv-news-content Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/NewsContent.CCTVPLUS Twitter: https://twitter.com/CCTV_Plus

BEST STOCK BROKER CANADA 2018

06:24
Best Stock Broker Canada 2018 is here to help you pick the right stock broker for you. I made a Best Broker of 2018 for my USA viewers, but my Canadian viewers don't have the same options and I cover ALL your options here in this video. So #1 we have Questrade Inc. Pros: -Excellent customer service -Decent Mobile app -no account fees -Easy to open and setup account -Commission of 1c/share with 4.95/trade minimum and 9.99 max Cons: -minimum balance of $1000 -24.95/quarter inactivity fee if you hold less than $5000 -Not good for charting or research unless you purchase the trading platform Questrade is probably the best broker available to Canadians - there are fees for lower account balances but they have a competitive commission structure and excellent customer service. The #2 pick is QTrade. Pros: -Good option for young investors -$7.75/trade -under $25000 account balance, quarterly fee is waived -Requirements: -An offer for investors aged 18 to 30 -To qualify, simply add $50 or more a month to a Qtrade Investor account by setting up automatic pre-authorized contributions. Cons: -Not available to everyone -Need to keep adding in $50 a month to be eligible, but can't exceed $25000 to still use commission structure QTrade is a good option for those that want to get started in investing but don't meet Questrade's $1000 minimum. The no quarterly fees under 25000 account is good to keep more savings in your pocket. However once your account grows to close to 25000, I would consider switching to Questrade. Thank you for watching! Don't forget to LIKE, COMMENT and SUBSCRIBE if you haven't done so already to support the channel - it means a lot to me! Let me know what videos you would like me to cover in the future. Either way, remember to invest positively. Peace! Disclaimer: None of the stocks, options, or securities that I discuss should be taken as advice or recommendations to buy/sell/hold as I am not a financial adviser. Fidelity FOREX is our market maker in 24 currencies. We provide foreign exchange services to Fidelity affiliates, clients, and their customers. We are different than most foreign exchange providers in that clients are working directly with traders – there is no middle man, no sales trader involved. In addition, traders on the desk are knowledgeable – knowledgeable in all currencies rather than specialists in just one currency. We offer our clients weekly market commentary that our customers find of great value. We also provide daily updates. We work with them and we personalize strategies to help our client take advantage of market conditions and mitigate currency risk. One of the benefits of being a company like Fidelity is that we have the resources and scale to compete in the technology race. Most brokers can get you access to displayed market liquidity. Fidelity expends significant amount of time, effort, and resources developing technology to allow you to get access not only to displayed liquidity that is visible in the marketplace, but also to the non-displayed liquidity, as well. Our liquidity story is unique. We have significant retail and institutional order flow. Our liquidity pool is highly concentrated in many illiquid names. Our large pool of order overflow provides access to small-, mid-, and micro-cap stocks that are challenging to trade. In 1995, National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) was formed to provide depository services to the investors. Nifty is the popular index, which was introduced by National Stock Exchange in 1995, to act as a basis for measuring the performance of the exchange. It lists out top 50 companies which traded on the exchange. ★★ Key Differences Between BSE and NSE ► BSE and NSE are the top securities exchange of India, where BSE is the oldest one while NSE is the youngest one. ► Globally, BSE stood in the 10th position in the list of top stock exchanges which is followed by NSE. ► NSE was the first to introduce the modernised trading system in the country in 1992 while BOLT was introduced by BSE in 1995. ► BSE’s index is known by the name SENSEX (Sensitive Index) which shows 30 top trading companies. Nifty (National Fifty) is the index of NSE, displays 50 most traded companies. ► BSE started as an Association of persons in 1875, which was accredited as a stock exchange in 1957. Test these strategies with paper trading, while analyzing results and making continuous adjustments. In order to buy and sell stocks, you need a broker; the public does not have direct access to the stock exchange. Typical costs: Fees for a single stock transaction can range from $7-$20 with a discount brokerage up to $400-$700 for a full-service firm, according to an article in Optemetric Management magazine. A brokerage fee compensates a broker for executing a transaction. It is usually, but not always, a percentage of the transaction value. In finance, stockbrokers most often come to mind, but real estate agents and business brokers frequently charge brokerage fees. Many brokerage accounts charge a transaction fee each time an order to buy or sell a mutual fund or stock is placed. These fees can range from $9.95 per trade to over $50 per trade. If you are investing small amounts of money, these fees add up quickly. Example: A $50 transaction fee on a $5,000 investment is 1%. Brokers' fees vary from firm to firm but are most often 15% of the annual rent. A $2,000/month apartment will require a $3,600 fee that must be paid when the lease is signed. At the same time you will be required to pay the property owner one month's rent, sometimes two. how to learn trading how to trade how to start trading real time trading best online trading stocks buy stocks online futures trading online trading service day trading strategies trading sites trading account shares online trading online trading system how to learn trading stockstotrade learn how to trade stocks margin trading forexlive learn about stocks technical analysis how do i trade online trade market shares online trading best online trading stocks learn how to trade stocks learn about stocks how do i trade online best online stock broker day trading rules swing trading fibonacci trading stock market trends technical analysis of stocks equity trading stockstotrade home trade trading strategies trade market website trading how to trade stocks how to start trading stocks online investment how to day trade stock market analysis etrade account how to invest in stocks online trading platforms trading strategies stock and trade home trade best online stock broker day trading rules trading trading strategies technical analysis of stocks buy stocks stock market etrade etrade stock online trading academy read online stock broker day trading trading stock in trade day trading stocks trading software paper trading commodity trading how to trade online online currency trading easy trade live forex free online trading best stock chart website stock market live chart online trading companies stock market viewer free trading charts trading markets trading games online live stock updates free real time stock charts foreign exchange calculator online share trading foreign exchange trading free online trading trading markets best online trading 4x trading real time charts index trading online trading reviews online futures trading live stock watch currency chart currency market live stock charts online what is currency trading currency news how to trade stocks online online stock market trade free stock charts online free online trading online trading courses real time charts live trading charts trade stock stream online chart best free stock charts offshore online trading livestock news stock charting program trade books online free stock charting software financial charts day trading currency real time charts index trading cheapest online trading how to trade currency live accounts online trading concepts online day trading best stock charting software fxcm trading station stock chart website online day trading courses stockview tradingview chart free charting software investing in currency 4x market stock stream online chart best free stock charts

Should Securities Markets Be Transparent? Financial Markets, Trading & Regulation (2009)

01:37:29
Public securities markets are either primary or secondary markets. In the primary market, the money for the securities is received by the issuer of the securities from investors, typically in an initial public offering (IPO). In the secondary market, the securities are simply assets held by one investor selling them to another investor, with the money going from one investor to the other. An initial public offering is when a company issues public stock newly to investors, called an "IPO" for short. A company can later issue more new shares, or issue shares that have been previously registered in a shelf registration. These later new issues are also sold in the primary market, but they are not considered to be an IPO but are often called a "secondary offering". Issuers usually retain investment banks to assist them in administering the IPO, obtaining SEC (or other regulatory body) approval of the offering filing, and selling the new issue. When the investment bank buys the entire new issue from the issuer at a discount to resell it at a markup, it is called a firm commitment underwriting. However, if the investment bank considers the risk too great for an underwriting, it may only assent to a best effort agreement, where the investment bank will simply do its best to sell the new issue. For the primary market to thrive, there must be a secondary market, or aftermarket that provides liquidity for the investment security—where holders of securities can sell them to other investors for cash. Otherwise, few people would purchase primary issues, and, thus, companies and governments would be restricted in raising equity capital (money) for their operations. Organized exchanges constitute the main secondary markets. Many smaller issues and most debt securities trade in the decentralized, dealer-based over-the-counter markets. In Europe, the principal trade organization for securities dealers is the International Capital Market Association.[2] In the U.S., the principal trade organization for securities dealers is the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association,[3] which is the result of the merger of the Securities Industry Association and the Bond Market Association. The Financial Information Services Division of the Software and Information Industry Association (FISD/SIIA)[4] represents a round-table of market data industry firms, referring to them as Consumers, Exchanges, and Vendors. In India the equivalent organisation is the securities exchange board of India (SEBI). In the primary markets, securities may be offered to the public in a public offer. Alternatively, they may be offered privately to a limited number of qualified persons in a private placement. Sometimes a combination of the two is used. The distinction between the two is important to securities regulation and company law. Privately placed securities are not publicly tradable and may only be bought and sold by sophisticated qualified investors. As a result, the secondary market is not nearly as liquid as it is for public (registered) securities. Another category, sovereign bonds, is generally sold by auction to a specialized class of dealers. Securities are often listed in a stock exchange, an organized and officially recognized market on which securities can be bought and sold. Issuers may seek listings for their securities to attract investors, by ensuring there is a liquid and regulated market that investors can buy and sell securities in. Growth in informal electronic trading systems has challenged the traditional business of stock exchanges. Large volumes of securities are also bought and sold "over the counter" (OTC). OTC dealing involves buyers and sellers dealing with each other by telephone or electronically on the basis of prices that are displayed electronically, usually by commercial information vendors such as SuperDerivatives, Reuters and Bloomberg. There are also eurosecurities, which are securities that are issued outside their domestic market into more than one jurisdiction. They are generally listed on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange or admitted to listing in London. The reasons for listing eurobonds include regulatory and tax considerations, as well as the investment restrictions. London is the centre of the eurosecurities markets. There was a huge rise in the eurosecurities market in London in the early 1980s. Settlement of trades in eurosecurities is currently effected through two European computerized clearing/depositories called Euroclear (in Belgium) and Clearstream (formerly Cedelbank) in Luxembourg. The main market for Eurobonds is the EuroMTS, owned by Borsa Italiana and Euronext. There are ramp up market in Emergent countries, but it is growing slowly. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Securities

Best Stock Trading Platform for Day Trading

02:31
Best Stock Trading Platform for Day Trading: For day trading stocks or CFDs, you need to choose the best day trading platform. The day trading platform is the trader’s pipeline to the market. The trading platform must be fast, effective, and reliable. It does not need to be overly sophisticated, because such platforms tend to be slow and cumbersome to operate. Have you ever seen a race car driver’s cockpit? If not, you’re likely to be disappointed the first time you do. We tend to assume that race car drivers need special, smart controls with a whole gaggle of electronic devices. But the opposite is true: these drivers need very little. What these drivers need most are speed, agility, and dependability. The same is true of the day trading platform. Don’t look for unnecessary platform “toys.” Just like the race car driver, you need a fast, dependable foundation. In the long run, the trading process is based on just three buttons: Buy, Sell, and Short. The Best Trading Platform is a Direct-Access Platform Not all brokers or trading platforms are suited to a professional day trader. "Online brokers" cater to long-term investors by providing web-based platforms. "Direct-access brokers" provide downloadable trading platforms that allow stock and CFD traders to send orders quickly and directly to any target. Unlike web-based trading platforms, "direct-access trading platforms" can be installed on a trader's home computer, where they provide faster execution, more features, and easier configuration than most web-based tools. To be a successful day trader, you must work only with direct-access brokers and trading platforms. A direct-access trading platform lets the trader route buy and sell orders directly to the stock exchange computer or directly to a CFD broker. The trading platform you will use also must include charting, which will help you follow stock prices in real time. Choose the Best Stock Trading Platform In summary, the best trading platform must: • be of the direct access type, allowing you to buy or sell stocks or CFDs directly to market makers and ECNs. or to a range of automated systems. • be installed on your computer (i.e., not web-based), because only installed programs are fast, reliable, and extensively configurable. • be simple and user-friendly, with the ability to simultaneously display at least 20 different charts over several screens. • provide the ability to save your selected screen configurations. There are too many trading platforms to mention here, but one that adapts well to novice traders and experienced traders alike is called Colmex Pro Trader (www.colmexpro.com). This well-respected platform is a real “cockpit” for stock trading, with a few extras, but no unnecessary bells and whistles. This platform is offered to US residents via our funded accounts program and to non-US residents here. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe for NEW You Tube trading lesson here: https://youtube.com/user/TradenetGlobalUK?sub_confirmation=1 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Helpful links: Join my trading group: Get education & a Funded Account: http://www.tradenet.com/join-funded-accounts/?affiliate_id=35955&affiliate_org=2&web_page=&placement=&campaign_id=7010O000000fKjw Watch my FREE live You Tube streaming Trading Room: https://www.youtube.com/c/TradenetGlobalUK/live Join a FREE 14 day trial in my live Trading Room: https://www.tradenet.com/14-day-free-trial/?affiliate_id=35955&affiliate_org=2&web_page=&placement=&campaign_id=7010O000000fKjw Watch all my lessons here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLb9tmPwCEfFjZWiIEYa4BfF4BZX0F0mWz View the FREE "Part one" of my trading book "The Market Whisperer" here: http://books.tradenet.com/ Buy my best selling book at Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1540353524 Open a Colmex account (Non-US residents): https://services.colmexpro.com/registration/start.aspx Watch all my day trading live videos at: http://www.youtube.com/user/TradenetGlobalUK/videos Contact Tradenet: [email protected] Contact Meir Barak: [email protected] Visit our website: www.tradenet.com Germany: www.tradenet.de

We saw in the last section that once a company completes an initial public offering (IPO), its shares become public and can be traded on a stock market. Stock markets are venues where buyers and sellers of shares meet and decide on a price to trade. While it may be true that nothing is perfectly safe in this world, online trading is certainly as good as offline trading at providing security for your financial transactions. If you are making securities transactions over the Internet, make sure your brokerage is using high-end encryption. A broker is simply a person who is licensed to trade stocks through the exchange. A broker can be on the trading floor or can make trades by phone or electronically. An exchange is like a warehouse in which people buy and sell stocks. A person or computer must match each buy order to a sell order, and vice versa. To day trade US stocks, you need to maintain an account balance of $25,000 or more. Start with at least $30,000 if you plan to make more than 4 day trades per trading week. 4 day trades or more per week gives you “day trader status” and you're subject to the $25,000 minimum account balance. how to trade how to start trading real time trading learn to trade trading stock exchange investment trading companies website trading online stock market investing day trader day trading futures futures brokers real time trading learn to trade trading day trading for beginners online trading account online trading system trader online best online trading sites trading stock exchange invest in stock market online how to become a stock trader fx currency trading online broker how to buy stocks online stock market trading online stock broker how to learn trading how to trade how to start trading real time trading best online trading stocks buy stocks online futures trading online trading service day trading strategies trading sites trading account shares online trading online trading system how to learn trading stockstotrade learn how to trade stocks margin trading forexlive learn about stocks technical analysis how do i trade online trade market shares online trading best online trading stocks learn how to trade stocks learn about stocks how do i trade online best online stock broker day trading rules swing trading fibonacci trading stock market trends technical analysis of stocks equity trading stockstotrade home trade trading strategies trade market website trading how to trade stocks how to start trading stocks online investment how to day trade stock market analysis etrade account how to invest in stocks online trading platforms trading strategies stock and trade home trade best online stock broker day trading rules trading trading strategies technical analysis of stocks buy stocks stock market etrade etrade stock
