How to write a literature review

09:21
How to write a literature review. It’s easier than you might think! In this video, I demonstrate how to search the literature and identify relevant papers for your literature review. I do a pubmed search using Boolean operators and MeSH terms (these are extremely powerful tools that will help you sift through the large number of academic papers out there). So if you’re doing a master’s thesis or a PhD, or you’re doing research and writing a paper, at some point, you’ll need to do a lit review. A big part of that review is the search and this video is going to help you get that right. You might be doing a systematic literature review or meta-analysis – again, you’ll need to do a good PubMed search that identifies the right studies. Thanks to BMC !!! ----------------------------- This video was sponsored by BMC – (click here to go to BMC: https://goo.gl/RFaUA2 ). As a pioneer of open access publishing, BMC has an evolving portfolio of high-quality peer-reviewed journals including broad interest titles such as BMC Biology and BMC Medicine, specialist journals such as Malaria Journal and Microbiome, and the BMC series. BMC is committed to continual innovation to better support the needs of research communities, ensuring the integrity of the research we publish, and championing the benefits of open research. BMC is part of Springer Nature, giving us greater opportunities to help authors connect and advance discoveries across the world. I’m particularly excited about having BMC’s support because I’ve been working with them for nearly 15 years as the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Globalization and Health. I’ve been extremely impressed by them as a company that has integrity and that is truly making the world a better place. LEARN MORE about literature reviews ------------------------------------------------------------ Of course, there is more to a literature review than just the search. You need to have a structured approach to selecting paper, extracting data, writing the review itself and creating a bibliography. For more detail on these aspects of a literature review, go to www.learnmore365.com where I have a full course on literature review (it takes about 30 minutes to complete). MODELS OF IT-PROJECT MANAGEMENT

00:40
MODELS OF IT-PROJECT MANAGEMENT Julia Doronina and Ekaterina Doronina Department of Information Systems, Sevastopol State University, Sevastopol, Russian Federation ABSTRACT Information system project management (IT - project) is a complex iterative process. An important role for the development of complex IT projects plays records of the development lifecycle (LC). The article presents an analysis of the effectiveness of the work on the creation of IT - projects based on two modified models of the life cycle: cascade and spiral. Analysis of the effectiveness of the management of the IT project was implemented on the basis of simulation. The modeling was carried out on the basis of Any Ljgic tools on the example of development of geoinformation system (GIS). It is shown that it is advisable to design GIS on the basis of a modified spiral LC with splitting of the flow of requirements at the input. The peculiarity of the proposed study is to take into account the requirements in the form of communicative interactions of different types. Under the communicative interactions are understood all the interactions between the subjects of the process of creating an IT-project: verbal and non - verbal, carried out on the basis of CASE-means. Keywords Information System (IS), Geographic Information System (Gis), Organizational Management, Communication Processes, Modeling, IT – Project Management. Strategic Project Management Made Simple for Leaders and Teams to Succeed

Strategic Project Management Made Simple has the Practical Tools that Help Leaders and Teams to Succeed Subscribe, Like, Share, Comment so that Igor can continue to bring you leaders and experts who will provide the insights to help you succeed. Welcome to WITS. What It Takes to Succeed show with your host Igor Zdorovyak. By trade Igor Zdorovyak is a Technical Business Transformation Project, Program, Portfolio Manager with expertise in PMI, Scrum Agile, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, ITIL and other methodologies, techniques and practices. For many years Igor has been writing about What It Takes to Succeed interviewing leaders and experts in their fields. Now he is bringing it to the masses, as Tim Ferriss would say, on a new platform. Igor’s second guest brings a fresh approach to tackling complex projects. Terry Schmidt’s latest book “Strategic Project Management Made Simple: Practical Tools for Leaders and Teams” (Wiley). His methodology has been called a breakthrough approach and the book is recognized as one of the 8 best PM books on the market, along with noted authors Peter Drucker and Jim Collins. Terry is president of ManagementPro, a Seattle based consulting and training company. Terry is a recognized expert in Strategic Planning and Project Management who has helped over 25,000 people in industries of all types in 42 countries to solve business problems through his innovative Logical Framework Approach (LFA). The Logical Framework captures key elements of a project in a 4x4 visual matrix that integrates key concepts from strategic thinking, project management, and the scientific method. Terry has identified four critical questions that populate the matrix and help teams to create their own strong strategic foundation. These questions are: 1. What are we trying to accomplish and why? 2. How will we measure success? 3. What other conditions must exist? 4. How do we get there? The first question brings a clear understanding of the what and why of a project. The second and third questions clarify success measures and identify the risky assumptions that can later cause problems if not spotted early. The forth questions helps to lay out the activities, budgets, and schedules. Most project approaches concentrate on the how without first adequately addressing the three other questions. Project managers of all skill levels can get outstanding results by using these four critical questions, the “LogFrame” matrix, and the embedded innovative concepts that help design better projects faster. Terry is kind enough to offer additional free resources at https:bit.ly/Terry-WITS These include an article about the Logical Framework, plus a 12 minute "live" video filmed at a PMI conference, in which he guides a group developing a LogFrame project plan to save dogs from euthanasia. Both are useful and informative. CSFs for integration of sustainability into construction project management in developing countries

06:34
http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0263786317300856 This study looks at the critical success factors (CSFs) affecting integration of sustainability into project management practices of construction projects in developing countries. Having innovation diffusion theory as the theoretical point of departure, CSFs pertaining to the triple bottom line of sustainability (environmental, social and economic) were identified through a comprehensive review of literature. These were customised for the context of developing countries by conducting 16 semi-structured interviews and were presented in form of a conceptual model. The model was validated through a survey returning 101 completed questionnaires with partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) as the method of analysis. This study contributes to the field by presenting one of the first studies in its kind focusing on CSFs for integration of sustainability into project management practices for construction projects within the context of developing countries.

Project Management for the Finance Industry's Rule #1: Think Like a Project Manager

01:47
I came across a recent article titled, "Five Lessons on Project Management for the Finance Industry"   by Andreas Tremel and it was advised to "Think Like a Project Manager".   The article said, “A financial manager is often an expert in his field who can not only create and oversee financial reports and strategies, but also manage risky investments extremely well. However, besides the ‘technical’ aspect, a project also needs a manager who has the necessary soft skills to lead the team and ultimately the organization to success. Projects are inherently people driven, and so is finance. The numbers are important, but it is the people you have to deal with. Adopting the right project management methods can help you increase efficiency organization-wide, from integration management to trade financing to customer management.” Interesting, but I would add Project Managers are in the unenviable position of balancing between the often insatiable demands from the customers – for example, more features, higher quality, shorter time and lower cost and the supply, which is people and other resources which are depletable and often scarce. People are especially finicky as a resource; we get tired, we need time offs, we want to be rewarded, and we can walk away.  Successful project managers know how to use incentives to motivate people, manage supply and demand to balance workload, and oversee the project finances to make sure the sponsors and customers are happy stakeholders. There’s a comprehensive article written by by Thomas A. Tarnow almost two decades ago yet still holds prudent today titled, “Thirteen easy steps to implement project management into a financial firm”.   It’s important to stay mindful Project management is a growing and complex discipline, which needs to be developed, implemented and managed to work efficiently and optimally.   Here at PMO Advisory we hold a monthly workshop designed for the uninitiated (financial services professionals) to master Project Management  - accelerating the learning of the secrets to effective Project Management. The workshop  is a combination of presentation of principles and practice, discussions and group work with simulations - where financial services professionals can in a single day, ascend the ladder of understanding “project management”.   Visit our website to learn about this 1 day workshop that’s offered monthly.     – Prof. Dr. Te Wu, the founder Project Management training firm PMO Advisory is among the few people in the world certified in Project (PMP), Program (PgMP), Portfolio (PfMP), and Risk Management (PMI-RMP).

Project Journal is an online publication for project professionals

00:32
Project Journal is an online publication for project professionals. Project Journal fills a void in the industry where other online journals have made the process of submitting suitable content nearly impossible. The purpose of Project Journal is twofold. According to Dean Jones, the founder of Project Journal, Associate at AECOM, it's "a space for a growing community of project professionals searching for the latest project news: projects, products and events." While the site is populated with insightful articles on timeless and trending topics, it's also a place where experts can expect to be heard. "Most of the industry journals and magazines have been established for a long time and receive tons of articles," said Jones. "The chances of getting something published is next to none and very frustrating. Many publications are compromised by their funding strategies, and their views are narrow, and in some cases, political. Therefore, they don't represent the true voice of the professionals they claim to represent." Project Journal is opening the submission process to contributors and is dedicated to furthering the professional lives of readers with: •Up-to-date information about innovations. •Insightful opinion pieces. •Core project-management processes. •Lessons learned from successful past projects. •The latest PM tools and techniques. •Improving career trajectories. Trabalho de MPSP

04:18
During the second semester of 2018, in the discipline Methodology of Projects in Production Systems we started and finished a project consisting of 4 Sprints. Sprint is each of the phases of a project, stipulated in certain spaces of time. Inside the Sprints it will be applied the other events, the progress of the project will be discussed, and the best solutions will be used so that it reaches the final product or part of it. The purpose of this poster is to present, in summary, the phases of the completed project and its results obtained, highlighting the importance of each stage for the final result. In the first stage we worked with the book "A Strategic-oriented implementation of projects" and saw an approach to strategies directed to the management of projects, the projects could be internal or external, from the perspective of a client. Using real-world examples from various industries, the author provided theoretical and practical tools for thinking and working strategically throughout the project process, including mastering the scope challenges and evaluating project success In the second stage, we separated the areas of Product Engineering and Organizational Engineering into 3 large groups. These include: STRATEGIC AND ORGANIZATIONAL MANAGEMENT, INNOVATION MANAGEMENT and INFORMATION MANAGEMENT for Organizational Engineering; PRODUCT MANAGEMENT, PROJECT MANAGEMENT and MARKET MANAGEMENT for Product Engineering, justifying every group. In the third stage, we worked with TAP, Project Opening Term that contained: Project Purpose, Measurable Objectives and Related Success Criteria, High Level Requirements, High-level Project Description, Borders and Key Deliverables, Overall Project Risk, Schedule summary of milestones, Pre-approved resources, List of key stakeholders, Project approval requirements, Success criteria for the project, Project manager, responsibility and authority level; Name and authority authorizing the project In the fourth and last step, we performed bibliometric researches interrelating the contents of Electrical Engineering with the topics of innovation and sustainability and with the three areas of Product Engineering and Organizational Engineering, obtaining several scientific articles with 6 different combinations of areas. We were able to understand the different stages of a project and its importance. We went through all the steps: from initiation to closure, including planning, execution and monitoring and control; The main focus was on the Project Management Plan that was made from the GanttProject tool, and at the Process exit, essential for the deliveries to be made within the established deadline and as requested. The leader also becomes fundamental to the division and instructions to the group and to the outrage dates and requisitions.
