15 Recent Science Discoveries You Wont Believe

15 amazing recent discoveries in the world of science and here they are from bionic contact lenses to reanimating dinosaur dna! Subscribe to Talltanic http://goo.gl/wgfvrr 7. New Human Species Biologists all over the world were intrigued upon hearing the 2015 discovery of a new species of human, Homo Naledi, allowing for an ever clearer picture of our ancient ancestry. The findings were unveiled deep in an underground cave in South Africa and is considered one of the greatest collection of human remains ever unearthed. So far, it is known that this species of human grew to an average height of 5 feet and had a brain no larger than an orange. The way the bones in the South African cave were arranged suggests that these human ancestors ritualistically buried their dead, giving scientists a glimpse into our cultural past. 6. Bionic Lens While still in the testing stage, the founder of Ocumetics Technology Corp may have stumbled upon a revolutionary technology that could augment the way humans perceive the world. A new bionic contact lens will give wearers an ability to see the world with stronger than 20/20 vision. Some subjects, who have already tried the lens themselves, claim that they not only see better than ever before but have identified a unique spectrum of colors unfamiliar to the unaided eye. Is this perhaps the first step in the direction of a new era of superhumans? 5. Harder Than Diamond Scientists may have recently discovered a substance harder than diamond, Q-carbon. What gives diamonds their excellent hardness are the chemical bonds that hold them together. The carbon in diamonds is held together by incredibly tight chemical bonds at the microscopic level, giving diamonds their prominent hardness. By the manipulation of carbon atoms, scientists were able to augment their chemical bonds, producing a material that is potentially 60 times harder than diamond. While this substance is still being experimented on, it is a potential prospect for the future of cheap, efficient technologies. 4. First Mammals Researchers from the University of Edinburgh have discovered an ancient species of mammals that survived the notorious extinction of the dinosaurs over 65 million years ago. The reason this find is so significant is that it gives us a glimpse at how mammals began to rule the world previously dominated by their cold-blooded counterparts. The mammal is thought to have been a plant-eater closely resembling a modern beaver. Once the dinosaurs were eliminated these beaver-like creatures began to flourish, given that they were no longer victims of dinosaur predators. Because these little guys were able to withstand the destruction that wrecked havoc on the dinosaurs, an array of mammals, including our ancestors, were finally able to leave their mark on the world. 3. Whale Gene Mapping Gene mapping is starting to look less like a theoretical nicety and more like an applied science with this new aquatic discovery. Scientists have finally discovered why Bowhead Whales are able to live to 200 years old by remapping their entire genome. By comparing the genome of Bowhead Whales with the genome of other mammals with a less impressive lifespan, scientists were able to point out marked differences. Bowhead longevity is due to its genes’ effectiveness in repairing gene deterioration, which is the cause of cancer and other ailments known to cut human life short. By further studying this animal’s genes, scientists may finally be able to restore our own faulty genetic system, substantially lengthening our lives. 2. Second Earth NASA has recently confirmed their discovery of a possible second Earth. Kepler-452b orbits its sun in what scientists call the “Goldilocks Zone,” which is the habitable region in space, not too far or close to the sun, necessary for the possibility of life to flourish. The new planet appears to have a rocky surface as well as liquid water, which is another key ingredient for life to subsist. Although not much is known about if there is life beyond Earth, it makes sense to take notice of planets similar to our own. 1. Animal Re-animation Scientists have always been intrigued by the prospect of re-animating creatures that have been extinct for many years. While bringing a dinosaur back to life would be kind of cool, bringing a Wooly Mammoth back to life would be just as cool, and that is just what scientists are trying to do. Because Wooly Mammoths and Saber-Toothed Tigers have only been extinct for tens of thousands of years, unlike the millions of years dinosaurs have been extinct, intact DNA samples are much easier to find. Scientists believe it is possible to recreate these extinct beasts by cloning them with DNA and tissue samples, which have been found, over the years, preserved in ice.

Scientists Confirm Dogs Can Recognize a Bad Person

09:00
How to Understand Your Dog Better. It looks like dog owners have scientific evidence to prove that their pets are the smartest and most perceptive and can even help them single out bad people. Their list of superpowers makes dog people proud: they can sense fear, read body language, and even smell cancer to find it at an early stage and warn of upcoming epileptic seizures. TIMESTAMPS Dogs can recognize a bad person. 0:50 They feel how other people treat their owners. 2:21 Dogs can read our body language and emotions. 3:22 They can sense fear. 4:05 Dogs can smell cancer. 5:52 They can warn of upcoming epileptic seizures and diabetic shock. 6:59 Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY -An experiment led by Dr. Akiko Takaoka from the Department of Psychology at Japan’s Kyoto University concluded that dogs refuse to trust a person who lied to it. Dogs did not follow a pointing hand that led them to an empty container. -In an experiment, dogs wouldn’t take a treat from the people who’d been mean or disrespectful toward their owners. In fact, besides distrusting them, they flat-out ignored these meanies. -With enough training and treats for a job well-done, dogs are able to tell the happy faces from the sad ones, even with human faces they didn’t come across during their training. -In a study of 694 people, the scientists found a link between a person’s emotional state and their likelihood of getting bitten. Emotionally stable and confident people don’t get bitten nearly as often as those who feel anxious around intimidating dogs. -Lots of dog owners have reported that their pets paid particular attention to their body part affected by cancer. -Dogs’ super noses can sense the rapid changes in blood sugar levels since they change the smell of an affected person’s breath and skin. 10 Amazing Science Tricks Using Liquid!

06:30
Add me on Facebook (click LIKE on Facebook to add me) - http://www.facebook.com/brusspup Download the music in this video: Song #1: Abyss - iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/abyss-single/id1033702454 Amazon download: http://www.amazon.com/Abyss-brusspup/dp/B014I4BFTI/ Song #2: Over Rain iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/over-rain-single/id1033695238 Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Over-Rain-brusspup/dp/B014JXPNSW/ Detailed information for the tricks in the video: 1. Slow motion ball: You need a thick liquid, preferably honey, a heavy ball, and a sphere shaped container. Place the heavy ball in the lower half of the sphere. Fill the lower half of the container with honey a little more than half. If you use too little or too much, it will affect the motion of the ball. 2. Water fire starter. Credit goes to The King of Random for this idea. Be sure to check out his channel. He has a huge selection of amazing how to experiments. https://www.youtube.com/user/01032010814 You need a plastic or glass container with a curved area. The Pom bottles work great. Fill the bottle with water. Fold 2 sheets of paper in half, twice. Print or scribble a black mark on one of the sheets. On a sunny day hold the bottle near the paper, focusing the light on the black area of the paper. Once it starts to smoke and a hole begins to form, wrap the other sheet of paper around the smoking piece. Wave the papers through the air to feed oxygen to the spark. Continue this until the paper catches on fire. 3. No-leak magic bag: Al you need is a zip baggy, pencils and water. Fill the bag almost to the top. Zip it shut, and start sticking pencils through the bag. Sometimes a few drops will leak out, but overall, this is a simple yet impressive trick 4. Liquid Stacking: You'll need a tall glass or bottle. Dish Soap, vegetable oil, dark corn syrup, rubbing alcohol, water and food coloring. First add the dark corn syrup, then dish soap, then add food coloring to the water and pour it in with the bottle tilted, then add the vegetable oil (bottle tilted), and finally add food coloring to the alcohol and pour it in with the bottle tilted. 5. Invisible Bottle: You need glycerin, a glass and a bottle that will fit in the glass. Fill both glass and bottle with glycerin and place the bottle in the glass. It looks like the bottle disappears. 6. Dancing Liquid: You need a powered speaker, a tone generator (can be found online), corn starch, water and plastic to protect the speaker. Pour 1/2 cup of corn starch in a bowl and 1/4 cup of water. Mix. Pour the liquid into the speaker and generate a 60hz tone. 7. Magic Water Barrier: You need 2 of the same glasses. Hot water, cold water, food coloring and a thin piece of plastic or cardboard. Pour the hot water in 1 glass, the cold in the other glass, add food coloring, then place the plastic on top of the hot water glass. Turn the glass upside down, place it on top of the cold water glass, then carefully remove the plastic. Hot water is less dense than cold water, so it "floats" on top of the cold water. 8. Leidenfrost effect: You need a pan, water and a stove. Turn the heat on high for about 4 minutes then add the water. This experiment can stain your pans. 9. Reverse Illusion: Add all sorts of images or words behind a glass, then watch as it reverses when you add water in the glass. 10. Reversing Liquid: You need 1 big glass, 1 smaller glass, 3 mixing glasses, corn syrup, pipettes, food coloring, and clips. First pour the corn syrup into the 2 bigger glasses. Place the smaller glass inside of the bigger glass. Attach the clips to prevent the smaller glass from moving side to side in the bigger glass. Pour a small amount of corn syrup into the 3 mixing glasses. Add food coloring and stir. Fill each pipette with a different color, then add the colored corn syrup to your big glass. Turn the smaller glass carefully and watch the colors mix. Turn it back and watch them unmix. Thanks for watching! Have fun!

Why are GMOs Bad?

11:26
Why are GMOs bad? They aren’t. They just aren’t, not intrinsically, and certainly not for your health. We’ve been eating them for decades with no ill effects, which makes sense, because a genetically modified organism is simply an organism, like every other organism, produces hundreds of thousands of proteins, but one or two of them are proteins that were chosen specifically by humans. The Science of Anti-Vaccination

09:16
Fewer children in the United States are getting vaccinated. That’s bad news for those kids, and also for public health in general. Often, the response is to argue and debate and get angry at people who are we see as making terrible, irrational decisions. Instead of doing that, let’s use science to understand why this is happening in the first place. Hosted by: Hank Green ---------- Like SciShow? Scientists Visualize the Sun's Mini-Ice Age Mysteries Using 400 Years of Solar Observations

15:08
A new study melds the last 400 years of recorded solar observations at today's American Geophysical Union meeting in Washington D.C. More earth changes and geopolitical upheaval and another update to the new world order From the no link news desk for For Dec. 12, 2018 Move over haarptards. You will not see this earthquake prediction or news from doomsday dutchie's magic 3d earthquake crystal ball first. The forecast includes sun, clouds, flurries, shooting stars and a comet. In case you missed it or want to wait and see sloppy seconds from doomsday dutchie. He is too busy stroking his ego with earthquakes he predicted along the ring of fire to follow up his previous failed predictions. Let's get to the science of things. As globalists try and place blame on man for causing global warming along comes another example of liberal art hypocrisy from leftist propagandists Doomsday dutchie fails at predicting a force beyond imagination, strongest earthquake ever seen! Scientists have explained why the world is again threatened by ice age Today's American Geophysical Union meeting in Washington D.C. will come as no surprise to Science Of Cycles readers. There have been several articles Science Of Cycles published regarding this issue going back to 1997. One of the highly contested questions regarding the pole shift…is 'where' on the time line are we measured as of today. I address this in a few of my previous articles. A significant conveying influence to the makings of a magnetic pole reversal is the deluge of cosmic rays which has an effect on the Earth's mantle and outer core. Recently, the media in unison began to retell the news, saying, NASA warns that Earth is safe from the little ice age. It turns out that the Sun had lowered their activity, therefore the inhabitants of the Earth can expect a cycle of long cold winters with record low temperatures. Really? There will be a new Maunderlittle ice age was already in the recent history of mankind — 1645 — 1715. William tell then attacked Spanish ships, frozen in the ice of the North sea. And on the Thames the people walking on the ice as on the frozen Dutch canals. This is evidenced by the paintings of the famous painters. The cold precisely coincided with the so — called Maunder minimum- not explained until now scientists sharp decrease in the number of sunspots, which is a decrease of solar energy. And the Sun is the main heater of the Earth. According to the calculations, then on our luminary was about 50 spots instead of the usual 40 — 50 thousand. By the way, strangely that the little ice age coincided with the reign of French king Louis XIV de Bourbon (1643 — 1715 gg.). Ironically his name was “sun king”! Ended Maunder, the Sun became more active, and in the same year departed this life the monarch… Now the Sun once again drastically reduces their activity. For several years of stains on it periodically disappear completely. The reasons are not entirely clear. One thing is clear: entering a new Maunder. A different opinion after All the Earth is waiting for the warming— sensation, as if NASA warns earthlings about the threat of a little ice age, — fake, — says Vladimir Chuprov, head of energy program Department of Greenpeace. — Yes, the fall in the scientific journal Space Weather (“Space weather”) was published an article by Dr. Tony Phillips, the Sun enters one of the deepest lows of your activity. Spots on the sun were out most of 2018, so the thermosphere (layer of the atmosphere at altitude https://tinyurl.com/ybkeahns 80 — 800 km above the Earth) began to cool. To keep better track of what is happening, the NASA researcher Martin Mlynczak with colleagues suggested to use the “Thermospheric climate index” (TCI). The article was purely applied character. As for the cold… Yes, there is now a solar minimum. But it will inevitably be followed by a transition to solar maximum and increase temperature in the thermosphere. Science has long known cycles of solar activity. If we go back to today's American Geophysical Union meeting in Washington D.C. and the predictions of scientists about global warming, unfortunately, they just confirmed the next mini-ice age. https://tinyurl.com/yc33lzw2

What is a gene?

04:57
Support Stated Clearly on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/statedclearly You've probably heard about GMOs or Genetically Modified Organisms but what exactly is a gene and what does it mean to modify the genes of a plant or animal? We hear about DNA and genes all the time in the news and in our biology classes but very few of us can actually explain what a gene is? This short film is designed to help. Here we discuss a basic definition of a gene, show what a gene looks like, what it is that genes actually code for, and the basic idea behind Genetically Modified Organisms. The video also briefly mentions one of the ways DNA strongly suggests that all living things are related and share an evolutionary history. Even though the content given here is just a simplified overview of genetics, after watching this video (along with our first video on DNA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwibgNGe4aY) you should be able to easily follow any news article, basic conversation, or 100 level college course lecture on genetics, even if you've never taken a biology course or studied genetics in the past. Climate Change Explained

05:50
A straightforward explanation of Climate Change: the heat from human emissions is roughly equal to exploding 400,000 Hiroshima atomic bombs every day. Historically, every time carbon dioxide levels increase in Earth's atmosphere, the average surface temperature increases, ice melts, and the seas rise.
