Journey to safer chemicals - REACH registration

01:45
For 10 years, chemical companies have assessed the risks of their chemicals used in Europe and sent that information to the European Chemicals Agency according to the criteria set out in the REACH Regulation. Today, we know more than ever before about the chemicals on the EU/EEA market, their properties and impacts. Companies are able to advise their customers on how to use them safely. ECHA together with the national authorities and the European Commission will use the knowledge to design EU wide measures to protect our citizens and the environment from any harmful effects. [Webinar] REACH Compliance: What You Need to Know

58:48
If a company manufactures a product in the hope of accessing the European Union market, it is likely they will eventually encounter the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals Regulation (REACH). Complying with REACH can be a challenge for many companies, as its requirements are ever-changing and new substances of very high concern (SVHCs) are regularly added to its list of restricted substances. In order to stay ahead of this evolving regulation, companies must implement an agile compliance program which can adapt to change while meeting rigorous regulatory obligations. In this video, join Valerie Kuntz, Assent’s Subject Matter Expert on restricted substances, as she explores the REACH Regulation and provides key insights companies can use to create strong compliance programs. In this webinar, you will learn: -What the REACH Regulation is -What are the regulation’s main compliance requirements? -What is the SVHC Candidate for Authorisation List? -… and more! REACH compliance requires companies to access their supply chain and collect vital product composition data, analyze the information and ensure they meet the regulation’s thresholds. This video provides the opportunity to learn more about REACH, understand its requirements and how you can comply with the regulation. What are the REACH Regulations?

02:32
The REACH Regulations replace a number of directives with a single system EU regulation concerning the registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals. The Regulations are in place to provide a high level of protection to human health and the environment from the use of chemicals and to make the people who place chemicals on the market responsible for understanding and managing the risks associated with their use.

What Is the New REACH Guidance?

02:43
On June 28, 2017 the European Chemicals Agency released an update to their guidance on requirements for substances in articles. This guidance, for the REACH Regulation, clarifies communication requirements for substances of very high concern (SVHCs), in relation to the Court of Justice of the European Union's (CJEU) 'once an article always an article' ruling. The ruling was necessary in response to a number of EU Member States who did not agree with the interpretation. France was committed to enforcing REACH under their own interpretation of the 'once an article always an article' ruling. This resulted in two French trade associations requesting a ruling from the European Court of Justice. Prior to the updated guidance, companies have been adapting without official guidance from the European Chemicals Agency. The ruling states that SVHC compliance should be based on concentration thresholds for each individual article within a product or object, not the product as a whole. This was a game changer for industry. With this release, suppliers and importers now have the context they need to assess compliance with the requirements of Article 33 and Article 7(2) of the REACH Regulation. The improvements offer a more comprehensive set of examples to help them understand the conditions under which they must communicate the composition of their products. This is a strong signal that the ECHA will continue to provide further and ongoing industry guidance in relation to the REACH Regulation. What is REACH? And its impact for SOURIAU

01:38
What is REACH? The council of the European Union has in the year 2006 put in place the REACH Regulation N°1907/2006. The text concerning chemical substances and dangerous mixtures aims to provide a better protection of the human health and the environment. All this is also to promote the innovation and the competitiveness of the European Industry. The REACH regulation is in place since 1st of June 2007. Esterline Connection Technologies (SOURIAU-SUNBANK), being fully aware of the obligations implemented with this regulations has set up a surveillance process for the manufacturing process and the utilization of chemical substances. Following the publication of the regulation 348/2013/EU, the use of chemical substances based on chrome hexavalents (CrVI) will be banned from begin of the 21st of September 2017 without having an authorization. This ban has an impact on certain manufacturing processes of the connectors: - Passivation of Cadmium - Passivation of ZnNi - Etching of Composite ** Check which actions we took: https://goo.gl/D93w7V ** This video does not contain technical data.
EU REACH 1

01:39:50
REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restrictions of Chemicals) is a major reform of EU chemicals policy, affecting all global supply chains that produce and use chemicals. It is particularly important for small- and medium-sized companies to know about requirements under REACH and how to comply with this regulation, in force in all EU Member States since June 2007. This two-part series addresses REACH Fundamentals and CLP Transition and Supply Chain Compliance. In the first webinar, EU REACH Part I, it will cover the key elements, products covered, exemptions and deadlines. This webinar will also cover the practicalities of REACH from business planning to registration, understanding the implications, potential costs, your legal entity in Europe, finding the data you need, co-registrants, SIEF's and preparing and submitting your dossier. The use of in silico approaches under REACH and CLP

25:54
Matthias Herzler, Senior Scientist, Chemicals Safety unit at the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) Presented at the 2018 OpenTox Euro Conference in Athens, Greece. The presentation will give an overview of how in silico and other „new approach methodologies“ are implemented in European Chemicals law, i.e. REACH (Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 on Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation, and Restriction of Chemicals) and CLP (Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 on the Classification, Labelling, and Packaging of dangerous substances and mixtures, translating the UN GHS into European law). According to the fundamental paradigm of these legislative frameworks, industry is primarily responsible for assuring safe use of their chemicals, while the authorities (Member State agencies, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), and the European Commission) fulfil a control function, with their own assessment and/or risk management activities focusing on substances of particular concern.
