The Incredible Story of The PayPal Mafia

21:08
Patreon Page: https://www.patreon.com/neoscribe Like all great origin stories, The PayPal Mafia is an origin story that deserves to be told and retold. From Social Media to the auto and aerospace industries, the impact of the PayPal Mafia is amazing, serving as the launching point for six members to become billionaires. The story of PayPal actually begins with palm pilots. If you are too young to remember these, Palm Pilots was a specific brand of a device called a personal digital assistant, or PDAs. Before the smart phone era, PDAs were cutting edge handheld PCs with the ability to connect to the internet, they were truly awesome for the time and were getting popular by the late 1990’s. And it was in 1998, Peter Thiel and Max Levchin decided to develop technology to allow person to person payments via the use of PDAs, namely Palm Pilots. You see, back in those days, sending money to someone was inconvenient compared to today. You were limited to cash or writing a check, and if you were far apart you would have to send it through the mail. Over the years, credit and debit card infrastructure expanded but they were limited to merchants. So, with Thiel and Levchin’s idea, people could beam money from one another through an app on their palm pilots essentially creating a digital wallet. Thiel graduated from Stanford and worked as a lawyer and former derivatives trader in New York before he moved back to SF to start a hedge fund. Upon his return, Thiel delivered a guest lecture and that’s where he met Levchin. Levchin’s migrated from the Soviet Union to Chicago when he was 16 in 1991. He went on to the University of Illinois where he studied to become a computer scientist. After college, he founded an automated marketing software company called NetMeridian which he ended up selling to Microsoft. Musk was a child prodigy from South Africa, he taught himself how to code around 10 years old and at 12 he developed a video game called Blastar and sold the code for $500 which is around $1300 today. By February 1999, at the age of 27, he sold his first start up Zip2 to Compact for $307 which he received $22 million. And a month later Musk and his friend and business partner Greg Kouri founded X.com, the first, online bank. SOURCES: **Books: The PayPal Wars by Eric M. What is PayPal and How Does it Work?

05:38
What is PayPal and how does it work? The simple answer is that it's a way to send and receive payments. This video provides a broad overview of the details behind this. For buyers, you can send payments while protecting your sensitive billing information. Credit card numbers, bank account details, and billing addresses are hidden in your PayPal wallet so that sellers only have minimal information necessary to complete your order. For sellers there are a number of products available to process payments online, over the phone, at tradeshows, in the field, or even at your retail shop! Conversion rates and avg. order totals have been proven to increase when you add PayPal as a payment option for your products and services. PayPal "The Future of Payments Today" - 321 FastDraw

04:41
Ever wonder how currency actually originated? We created this FastDraw video for PayPal in order to help consumers better understand the past, present, and future of payments! For more info, please visit http://www.321fastdraw.com/ Follow us on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/321fastdraw Follow us on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/321fastdraw Follow us on Google+: http://gplus.to/321fastdraw -------- To help understand the future of payments, it's worth looking back at how we paid for things in the past. Since the beginning, there's always been currency. Originally this was anything of value that could be traded. Cattle, grain, milk, wool... well you get the picture. It was a pretty SIMPLE system, with everyone getting what they wanted. However, as man started to travel greater distances, dragging a herd of cattle around just wasn't practical! So in some countries people started to use small tokens of value like gold or silver coins, whilst in others shells, beans or iron nails were used. China even flirted with the idea of paper money. These tokens or coins were great, nice and portable and easy to exchange, that is until you amassed a whole heap of them. Then you were at risk of having them stolen. Yes, SECURITY became a real issue. And that's where the banks came in. Although originally, banks weren't banks. Back in the 1600s they were just nice safe places where goldsmiths stored their valuables. They started renting out these spaces to people to store their gold and valuables and would issue notes as receipts for reclaiming the deposits. The notes began being used as evidence of ability to pay and pretty soon these 'banknotes' became a currency all of their own. The birth of banks ushered in the modern age of banking with all that entails: loans, savings, checkbooks and eventually the phrase 'put it on the plastic'. Nowadays, the world of payments has become more complex, and much more connected than ever before. Global commerce enables TRILLIONS of dollars to exchange hands every day. The amount of money flowing around the world -- and the data connected to it -- is unprecedented. So using a payment method that's been around literally since the dawn of time seems....well, old fashioned? Enter PayPal! PayPal's history is much shorter and a lot less sordid than the history of money. But it started with a very simple goal -- to allow people all over the world to have more direct control over their money than ever before. How? By making it possible to send money to each other via the Internet. It's success stems from those two key words we talked about earlier. SIMPLE and SECURE Opening a PayPal account is simple. To get started, all you need is an email address. Once your account is set up, you can make a payment to anyone, anywhere around the globe that accepts PayPal -- or send money to almost anyone with an email address. See it, want it, PayPal it! Just log in, pay and BOOM it's yours. No typing in your billing and shipping address or your credit card details every time you buy something. You don't even have to have the same currency as the person you're paying. And PayPal is accepted by millions of merchants in 190 markets around the world. And, PayPal keeps money SECURE, because merchants don't see your bank details or credit card information, they only talk to PayPal. It's just like those goldsmiths back in the 1600s, but now your financial details are locked away in the cloud rather than a strong room. That means you can access your money on any internet-connected device. Even if the bad guys do try anything naughty, Buyer Protection helps protect your eligible purchases, so you have less to worry about. But PayPal's just a way of paying for stuff online isn't it? Noooo! Now PayPal is moving into physical stores to modernize the way we pay in person. As this continues to gain momentum, you will see more and more SECURE ways to PayPal it! Imagine bypassing the line in store and just picking up your coffee without even stopping at the register. Imagine getting free stuff because the shop is tracking your loyalty points. Imagine paying with nothing but your phone number. Imagine paying your sitter, your friend for dinner, your gardener or your favorite guy at the farmer's market -- no longer with cash -- but with PayPal. And for businesses, imagine being able to know who's in your store, to greet customers by name and even offer them rewards and discounts. It's putting personal back into payments - like back in the good old days. PayPal takes away the pain of payments -- pay where, when and who you want, any way you want. It's amazing; it's the future of payments, today.

BudgetGadgets: How to find my order history? I finished the payment.

04:05
website: http://www.budgetgadgets.com http://www.facebook.com/budgetgadgets BudgetGadgets.com order history: http://www.budgetgadgets.com/account_history.php BG: budgetgadgets.com For the question " I finished the payment already, why can't I find my order history on budgetgadgets.com ?" For regular procedure orders: You can find your order history by this steps: First log in your BG account, Second from the top of the page, in the pop out drop-down menus, click "order history", you will see all your orders details, including how much you paid and what's in your order. Plus: What's the definition of "regular procedure orders"? Regular procedure orders is the orders you made in this kind of steps: The first step, you logged in your BG account, then add something to your cart, from the "cart content page", click "Checkout" and choose shipping method like 0$ or 3$ tracking option, then choose payment method, like "standard checkout" or "express checkout", then go to your paypal account to finish the payment, this is the normal regular procedure to make an order. --------------------------------------------------------------- Please note this: On the cart content page, there are two payment icons "Checkout" , and "Check out with paypal" , If you have a BG account, please make sure you are choosing the first "Checkout", this is for the convenience of your order history. If it's a regular order in this way, you can easily find your order history from your BG account on the pop out menu of "my account" place. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Another payment method is a quick payment method: Which means people don't want to have a BG account, for something like they don't want to get newsletters or just feel it waste time to register a BG account. Then what they do? Simply find a product and add to cart, on the cart contect page, they are "not logged in status", because they even don't have BG account, so they are not logged in. Now, people choose the second icon "Check out with Paypal", where they directly skip to the paypal page from the cart content page. This way, the con is : Some don't know how to find their order history, but yes, they can. But need one more step than the regular orders. You know, they don't have their BG account: But when they go to the paypal page from the cart content page, our systerm knows " uh, this email is one of our customers, this is recognized by the systerm.". The systerm randomly generate a code for the email on our site, but we don't know what's the code. Now you also have an BG account, the email is your paypal email, but the code isn't your paypal code, it's a random number we don't know. Now, if you want to see your order history, click "log in" page, the email is your paypal email, but the code is a random number so far, Note: this couldn't be your paypal code, don't enter your paypal code here. Instead: You need to click "Password forgotten? Click here." , enter your paypal email, our systerm will send you a mail including a random number for you to log in, after log in, then you can change your password. Now from the top "my account/order history" you can see your order history. -------------------------------------------------------------------- So, I mean if you have a BG account, be sure to log in your BG account first to make your order in the regular procedure, this is for the convenience to see your order history. Or even if you have BG account but you used the "check out with paypal" without logging in your BG account, how the systerm knows which BG account this order belongs to, it only knows this order is made by the paypal account. Then you still need to use your paypal email as BG account email, and ask the systerm to send you a random code to log in, where you can change your code and see your order history like a normal BG account. The most important thing is : As long as you finished your payment on your BG order, please rest assured we will send out your order. For the above text paragraphs, is for you if you are worring about whether we see your order, or you forgot what you bought, then go to have a look there in the order history. ---------------------------------------------------- Thanks for all your support to BudgetGadgets.com. video recorded with camtasia studio software: http://www.techsmith.com audio converted through this site: http://www.abc2mp3.com/convert.php Ignore similar questions: why can't I find my order history, but I finished the payment? where is my order history? why isn't there any orders in my order history page?

It’s Invest Diva's Kiana Danial https://www.investdiva.com/ with News BTC and today I’m taking a look at Initiative Q, the promise of a new “future” currency that created a frenzy on Invest Diva’s Investment group this week. As a crypto enthusiast, you may have already been approached by friends and family with an invitation that only asks for your name, email address and a password to reserve you an amount of the next potential Bitcoin. Except, it is not a cryptocurrency and doesn’t even work on the blockchain- yet. They call it a social financial experiment. There’s only a limited amount of invites, so things can get hyped up pretty easily especially if the link is shared within an online group. After all, who wouldn’t want some free money that can be used in the economy of the future? Doing a quick search online, you’d find a ton of articles that have compared Initiative Q to a Pyramid Scheme. To which, Initiative Q’s Twitter handle has responded with a big ole “no”, claiming that “pyramid schemes collect money from new members and distribute it to earlier members. In contrast, joining initiative Q is completely free. So, clearly, there is no money to hand up the “pyramid” to earlier members.” Personally, I liked the way they described how any currency has come to value in our financial systems, and that is because people demand it and stores accept it for payment. Their website reads: “No buyer will join a new payment network with no sellers, and no seller will offer a new payment option that no buyer uses.” They call it a “self-fulfilling prophecy.” As millions join, advanced payment technologies are deployed, the payment system becomes even more popular, the Q currency becomes valuable. And of course, if you get invited now, you can secure some Qs for “free.” Critics say this is not really free, because they can at least use your name and email address for marketing in the future. Supporters say, what website do you know who doesn’t ask you for this minimal amount of information? At the end of the day, all we know for sure is that Initiative Q has no value today. And whether or not it becomes valuable in the future, depends on how wildly popular it becomes, and how sincere the founders, who are former PayPal people, by the way, are. Now I’d like to hear from you. What do you think about Initiative Q? Have you got an invite yet? Do you think this is just a scam or has the potential to turn into an actual currency in the future? Let me know in the comments, and subscribe for more updates!

Also, if you're paying bills or making purchases online, you will want to record those payments as expenses. Mobile Payments: The Good, the Bad, and the Confusing

02:56
Ever use your smartphone to pay for parking or split the dinner bill with a friend? More people are using their phones as a mobile wallet and most mobile transactions work just fine. But with technology constantly evolving the rules that should protect consumers simply haven’t caught up. In this animated video, follow along as Miles and his friend Pearl spend the day together, banking and buying music and coffee, all with their phones. Are the risks of using mobile payments holding people back and what can be done about them? For more facts on mobile payments visit: http://www.pewtrusts.com/mobilepayments. SCRIPT: Smart phones can be used for all kinds of things these days. Ok, we get it and increasingly more people are using their phones as a mobile wallet. You can pay for parking, donate to a worthy cause or split a bill with a friend. Most mobile transactions work just fine, but with technology constantly evolving, the rules that should protect you simply haven’t caught up. And government oversight isn’t clear. Meet Miles. Miles is busy and likes to pay for things with his phone. Yesterday, using his bank’s mobile app, he deposited a birthday check from his grandma. Happy Birthday, Miles! Normally when Miles deposits a check at his bank, the funds are available the next business day. But since his mobile deposit isn’t regulated the same way, Miles’s money may not be available for several days. Today, Miles is hanging out with his friend, Pearl. Pearl stops to fill up her car with gas. Miles offers to pitch in using a mobile app. He thinks his birthday money has already cleared. Miles doesn’t know it yet, but his bank won’t post Grandma’s check for a few more days, so he actually only has $10. That gas just cost an extra $35 in overdraft fees. Yikes! Miles, did you give the bank permission to overdraw your account for a fee? Like a lot of people, Miles doesn’t remember. And banks may not have to ask permission to overdraw your account for mobile transfers – like they’re required to with debit card and ATM transactions. Next, Miles and Pearl stop at their favorite coffee shop. Miles, are you concerned about data privacy? Miles likes the convenience of mobile payments and hasn’t thought much about it. But if he did run into problems, it’s not clear who’s in charge of protecting his data. Last stop -- the record store. Pearl tries to pay with her mobile wallet. But, the money is gone! Unfortunately, money stored directly on mobile wallets may not have the same protections as checking accounts. Financial institutions provide fraud protection and deposit insurance while others aren’t required to by law. Pearl, did you read your mobile wallet agreement? One tap of a finger may bind a consumer to a contract even if it is hard to read or unclear. With the right rules, Miles and Pearl’s money would be protected. Policymakers should update rules and laws to make mobile payments simple, safe, and secure for everyone. For more information, click here.

Ripple (XRP): Coin History, Transaction Protocol & Remittance Payments?

03:19
XRP Ripple Full Story: https://www.mybitcoin.com/ripple-xrp/ Co-founded by Chris Larsen and Jed McCaleb, Ripple is a real-time gross settlement system (RTGS) which has remained highly controversial within the cryptocurrency community since its release in 2012. Some argue that Ripple is even older than Bitcoin since the precursor to Ripple, Ripplepay, was first conceived by Ryan Fugger in 2004. Strictly speaking, Ripple's XRP is not a cryptocurrency but a payment protocol digital currency. Ripple is a Transaction Protocol (RTXP), which functions as a ramp for trade and transfer of various forms of currencies, both fiat cryptocurrencies, and digital goods. Although often compared and contrasted with Bitcoin, Ripple can be best described as Paypal based on the principles of blockchain as it seeks to leverage the security afforded by blockchain to facilitate global interbank transactions. The Ripple Transaction Protocol RTXP comprises a set of rules governing the transfer of money and assets between various payment gateways to enable transactions between two parties from anywhere in the world. Gateways are intermediaries able to receive and send currencies and digital goods via the Ripple network. The protocol enables gateways to allow their customers to use Ripple's service, which facilitates seamless interbank transactions. Ripple protocol's advantage is its ability to process near-instant transactions across borders for a mere fraction of the fee. Gateways are fundamental to the way Ripple operates. These can be banks, marketplaces and financial institutions that have incorporated the Ripple protocol in their system. Gateways provide a way for money and other forms of value to move in and out of the XRP Ledger. Alice can pay Bob by simply depositing a supported currency at Gateway A and notify Bob to redeem equivalent value in his preferred currency at Gateway B. Unlike Bitcoin, which uses proof-of-work algorithm to verify transactions, Ripple employs a distributed ledger which is updated by a network of nodes which validate transactions. Although described as a decentralized network, these validating nodes are operated by Ripple and payment gateways in the network. A new ledger is created every 4 seconds when a set of transactions are validated by a supermajority of peer nodes.
