Product Review - English File from Oxford University Press

09:05
*NOT SPONSORED* As with any line of work, English teachers are required to use resources in order to improve their performance. In this particular field most courses follow a text book and there are a plethora of different names available in the marketplace. My personal favourite has always been English File from Oxford University Press. They offer comprehensive, engaging courses to learners of all levels (except proficiency, which I would like them to consider) and I have always received positive feedback from students regarding the quality of this product. As a teacher do not be put off investing in good quality materials as they are worth their weight in gold. The academic year is a long one and you can't improvise classes every week. Students need to follow a structured course and that is what is on offer here. It comes at a price but in the end offers good value.

Improving education: Kenya

02:23
How do you improve education across a nation? Education changes lives and transforms opportunities. It is vital we keep striving for quality and reach of teaching and resources. In Kenya, the government and World Bank have been working with Oxford University Press to boost education for all children. Oxford University Press, with the Kenyan government and World Bank, are supplying all Secondary school pupils with textbooks for their six main subjects. This has taken necessary resources to parts of the country not supplied directly by educational publishers for years due to conflict. The Press are also working with the government and teachers across Kenya to help implement the new Primary curriculum. The new programme prioritises skills acquisition, a strong move away from the previous learning-by-rote approach. Oxford University Press worked with course experts and teachers to publish a free teacher resource book to help those implementing the new curriculum. Oxford University Press is a department of the University of Oxford. It furthers the University’s objective of excellence in research, scholarship, and education by publishing worldwide. This educational reform project speaks directly to the Press’ mission – increasing the reach of quality education materials to further education for all.
