Kristy Muir is Professor of Social Policy and the Research Director at the Centre for Social Impact at UNSW. In her previous role as Associate Dean of Research at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, she was recognised with the Staff Excellence Award for Senior Leadership in 2013. Making Money Matters - The MFCEO Project #002

41:14
In this conversation of The MFCEO Project podcast, Andy Frisella, “the MFCEO” of Supplement Superstores and 1st Phorm International, shares his manifesto on money. He talks about why making money matters. He also dispels myths about money and shares principles for earning more of it. Money is not the root of all evil, he explains, and pursuing wealth can be a noble goal. When it comes to business and entrepreneurship, however, how much money you make will be directly connected to how much value you bring to the world. Joining him in the studio is his co-host Vaughn Kohler. ► http://www.andyfrisella.com | IG: @andyfrisella I have a top rated podcast too! The MFCEO Project on iTunes, Soundcloud, and Stitcher! https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/the-mfceo-project/id1189981610?mt=8 https://soundcloud.com/the-mfceo-project https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-mfceo-project In a world filled with counterfeit business experts and con artist success gurus, ANDY FRISELLA is not a “guru.” He is THE REAL DEAL. A real entrepreneur. An “average dude” by his own admission, Andy learned the mindset and skills it takes to succeed in the crucible of real life, and powered through years of frustration and failure in business to found six companies and build a 9-figure empire. From his early years of having to sleep on a piss-stained mattress from the Goodwill to getting stabbed in the face and left for dead, Andy’s story is not one of ease or overnight success. Instead, his life proves that anyone can build a successful business and become extremely wealthy if they are committed to excellence and being aggressive. Most recently, Andy has become a sought-after keynote speaker, top-rated social media influencer, and a bestselling author. In addition, he hosts The MFCEO Project, one of the top 50 podcasts in the world, which has over 50 million downloads since it began June 2015. Andy has been recognized as one of the world’s leading authorities on customer retention and loyalty, company culture, as well as the marketing techniques it took building both brick-and-mortar and online direct-to-consumer retail businesses from the ground up. He was named Entrepreneur of the Year in 2016 and has been featured in Forbes, INC, and Entrepreneur Magazine, as well as many other notable publications. – Official Merchandise and Books: https://andyfrisella.com/collections/all

143 Change Your Beliefs and Make Money Matter with Cole Hatter

01:14:25
Hey hey! Welcome to episode 143 of Life on Fire TV. Today we’re hearing from my good friend and previous visitor to the show, Mr. Cole Hatter. Cole is a man living an incredible life, and he’s doing so because of his views on money. On this episode he shares how his entrepreneurial views on debt and making money matter have led him from being broke to a multi-millionaire who lives with purpose and passion. The first topic he touches on is mindset and how we’ve all been raised to think about money. Specifically Cole shares the difference between good debt and bad debt. Most of us have been raised to believe debt is bad, no exceptions. But Cole makes a clear distinction between the good and the bad: the good is debt we use for leverage to help us create assets and streams of income. Bad debt is used to buy possessions, expenses and consumer goods. In this episode you’ll hear: • What Zig Ziglar's wife can teach us about money. (10:30) • Is opposite ever better? (17:30) • What Shark Tank can teach us about good debt. (29:20) • The mindset shift that took Cole from broke to millionaire in 20 months. (56:30) • What is a for-purpose business? (1:02:05) • And so much more! Cole hammers home one very important point: don’t use debt to buy things that cost you money, use it to create MORE money. The next time you get out your credit card to buy a brand new TV reconsider, Cold would tell you that’s an example of bad debt. But if you’ve started a new business or want to get in on an investment deal and the only way you can is to use your credit card, go for it. That’s what good debt is all about: leveraging debt to make a successful business or create another income stream for yourself. In short: if it makes you money it costs you nothing. Read that line again and let it sink in! In this episode Cole also shares the different quadrants we can live our lives in financially. The one we’ve all been taught to go after is the earning quadrant. This is when we make a lot of money but have little to no purpose for our lives. Nearly everyone has been taught either directly or indirectly that the more we earn the happier we will be. That’s an example of the earning quadrant. But Cole disagrees. He believes we can live in another quadrant: the thriving quadrant. This is when we make money and that money matters, it makes a difference in the world. The thriving quadrant is when our purpose and our profits combine. We earn plenty of money and can be comfortable, while we can still give of our time and our dollars to worthy causes. Or we can even devote our businesses to worthy causes. We create for-profit businesses in this quadrant. And finally Cole shares the three key points he wants each of us to take away from his talk. They are each important and incredibly valuable! Check it all out on episode 143 of Life on Fire TV!.Thanks for being here and we’ll see you next time. How to Honor your Ancestors and get their help with Money matters and for your business!!!

11:25
As a spiritual person and entrepreneur/business owner it's advisable to honour your ancestors even if you don't know who they are. They can help protect and guide you spiritually and help you succeed. From my experiences they are usually the first to come through with anything whenever I need help. I don't really have pics of my ancestors but if you do you can use them. Also if you know certain stuff they like you can build a little altar for them and put all that on there. My ancestors love florida water And lavender so I usually burn lavender incense and have Florida water always on my altar.Feel free to contact me for any questions. Stay tune for more videos. How To Talk To Your Mate About Money

09:11
The Money Talk with your Mate Money matters can make or break a relationship. It is important that couples sit down and have the all important financial talk to ensure that both parties are on the same page. In celebration of Valentines Day, we sat down with Cassandra “Coach Cass” Henriquez, a relationship coach and founder of Inspire Many, to discuss 5 Effective Ways To Get Your Mate To Talk About Money! This video was brought to you in part by #StateFarm and is about of a larger campaign #InsureYourLove #1 Timing Is Everything: Before initiating a conversation about money let’s take a few things off the table that will just make the conversation 100% smoother. Coach Cass offers that your mate can’t be Hungry, Tired, or Sex Deprived during this important! Yes, get it in! Think about it, if you want to have a high functioning conversation that is going to require you to compromise, think on your feet, and get those financial goals out of your head and in to your actual wallet you need to be at your absolute best! So take a moment to set aside some “us” time and have the talk. #2 Define your Money Morals Before becoming a couple, you and your partner may have developed different money habits. In a relationship one person may really value travel, while the other really enjoys the security of seeing money in the bank. Having open conversations about each person’s values and making compromises is important. Once you and your partner understand how you relate with money, the two of you can begin working out a money marriage that reflects the union and not just you! Yay! #3 Clarify Your Financial Frustrations Often times we hold on to our financial frustrations rather than letting them out in a way that can be confronted. Having financial agreements with people outside of the relationship can cause financial frustration for a couple. In her experiences with clients, Coach Cass finds that some partners loan money to relatives without their mate’s approval, and buy expensive toys (new gadgets, clothes, etc.) that serves as an agitation to the problem. In those scenarios “the frustration of the money being spent, and the inner turmoil that lingers can spill into other parts of the relationship.” Coach Cass suggests addressing the problem head on which can lead to happier times. #4 Less “Me” & More “We” Talk: Coach Cass offers that if we spend more time talking about “we goals ” as opposed to “ me goals” we can get to our Money Mecca at lot sooner. Set up a plan with your partner that gets you both excited for a happy financial future. This can be anything from saving up for a dream vacation to setting yourselves up for a happy retirement. Remember, the goals you set not only help make your dreams a reality, but it gives you both something to look forward to. When you work together as a team there really is no limit to what you can accomplish together! #5 Find Some Financial Faith Getting on one accord can be quite the challenge, but you can lessen the “togetherness” process by simply relying on a source greater than yourself, says Coach Cass. Having a family that is in insurmountable debt, filing for bankruptcy and student loans are all problems that will require you to increase your financial faith. To accomplish this goal, identify things that are already going well for your family financially and spend some time implementing more of that. Remember that tough times can only last so long, putting your faith in something greater than yourselves can make those tough times easier.
Does Money Matter in a Relationship? 💰 | Tell My Story, Blind Date

07:32
It’s certainly easier to make assumptions about people than it is to spend time getting to know someone. We wanted to put assumptions to the test to see what we're missing out on because we're so busy assuming we already "know" a person. Join us as we discover why you should never judge a book by it’s cover in our series 'Tell My Story, Blind Date.' We are all conditioned with certain biases. In this experiment, we challenged these biases by asking people to guess their partner's interests and past experiences based only on their partner's appearance. When they learned their partner's real answers, they were shocked by how wrong they were. Now tell YOUR story. What do people assume about you? How to Protect Your Money Online - Money Matters | Mountain America Credit Union

03:27
Speaker 1: Welcome everyone. You’ve heard it over and over and over again. Take steps protect yourself online, but with so many data breaches it is worth repeating, especially when it comes to your money. We are joined today by the Nanette Graviet, vice president of public relations at Mountain America Credit Union. You are right, we hear this a lot but yet we probably hear more about all the hacking that's going on into our accounts. What can we do? What should we do right now to protect ourselves? Nanette: Well it is very important that you take an active role in taking care of your security online. The first thing that we recommend is keep your computer clean and make sure that you have an up-to-date security software system installed, properly installed on your computer and make sure that you take advantage of those regular updates. So many times they send regular updates, “Hey you need to update your software” and we use snooze that or we just ignore it. Don’t do that. Take advantage of that. Be careful where you connect. A lot of people think that you should only protect your home computer but really any device that connects to the internet should be protected with security software. Then make sure you have good passwords. Speaker 1: That is the hardest thing. Nanette: I know. Speaker 1: We talk about good passwords, different passwords. How do you do that? How do you make sure your passwords are secure? Nanette: First of all you want to make sure you have very strong passwords. Long and strong is kind of the way to remember how to set those. Make sure you have a mix of upper and lower case letters, numbers, symbols. Then once you have all those you are probably thinking “Oh my gosh, how am I ever going to remember all these passwords?” Take advantage of a password manager. Then you only have to remember one super secure password and it will let you in so you can access all the other passwords that you have. Speaker 1: You know, it is one thing to talk about other passwords that you have. It is one thing to talk about keeping yourself secure whether it is Facebook or other websites but we are talking about your money; your banking. Where is it really important? What are some things that we really need to remember? Nanette: E-Statements are a great way to start out keeping yourself safe. That way you ensure that those statements are coming to you. They are not sitting in a mailbox. They are also not cluttering up your desk. They are safe, better for the environment. Speaker 1: You are throwing them away and some are going through your trash. Nanette: A lot of people don’t shred even though we know the benefits of that. Setting up Billpay, getting your bills online and then paying them online is going to eliminate those statements as well. Then so many alerts are available, so you can get an alert on your device when anything happens on your account just so you can know that that is something that you transacted. Speaker 1: Then that's something else that brings us kind of to the fraud protection. Not only are you worried about people hacking into whatever accounts you may have, but then someone stealing your identity as well. Nanette: Right. There's a lot of phishing schemes out there and some people might say what is phishing? Phishing with a PH very similar to actual fishing where they are going to dangle something in front of you that looks real, but it is not. If you see an email that you are questioning, if in doubt throw it out. Delete it. Mark it as junk mail but don’t invite that into your computer. You want to be really aware of what's going on. If something does happen and you do fall victim to a fraudulent scheme, contact your financial institution immediately. The faster you can get to them, the faster they can stop any additional fraud from happening on your account and help you take steps to recover. Speaker 1: How do people get hold of you? Nanette: Visit us at any of our branches or online at MACU.com. Speaker 1: Nanette Graviet, thank you so much for joining us on this Money Monday. Nanette: It is all right.
139: Make Money Matter With Cole Hatter

44:25
Hey hey! Welcome to episode 139 of Life on Fire TV. Today we’re talking to one of the top 3 people I know living a life on fire, Mr. Cole Hatter. Cole joins us for his second visit, and this time we’re talking about prospering with purpose and making money matter. Check it out on today’s episode of Life on Fire TV. Even though Cole’s been on the show before we didn’t spend a lot of time digging into his backstory, and that’s something we do on this episode. Cole is an exceptional businessman, father, husband and friend. Ever since he was a child he wanted to make a measurable difference in the world. His first calling was to the brotherhood of firefighting. But a severe car accident ended that dream, and also ended the life of one of his best friends. Cole remembers very little about the accident except the ER surgeon telling him someone must have plans for Cole because there’s no reason he should have survived. Just two months later Cole lost his other best friend in a tragic dirt bike accident. Buoyed by his church family and his internal commitment to his friends’ too-short lives, Cole was determined to make his life mean something. Because his friends had passed away far too early in their lives Cole was committed to making the rest of his life matter and be a testament to their memories. In this episode you’ll hear: • Can money buy happiness? (16:00) • One immediate way to stand out in a crowded marketplace. (17:20) • Why you have a responsibility to run a profitable business. (26:00) • How to create a for-purpose event: Cole breaks down the steps. (27:00) • Why did Cole shoot videos for his upcoming event? (34:30) • And so much more! And Cole has done that, he has prospered with purpose. And because of his commitment to living a life on fire, he is now teaching people how to prosper with purpose and how to make money matter. He says the two aren’t separate, you can and should have both! In this episode Cole shares a simple way to practice this in your business whether you’re in the start up stage or you’re an existing organization: add a charitable angle to what you’re already doing. You can give a portion or a percentage of all of your sales to a non-profit, and advertise that you are doing so. Let people know their money is going to a good cause, as well as to your business. And don’t worry about losing that money you donate, Cole believes your sales will actually increase because people love to contribute to organizations that do good. Not convinced? Think of these two companies: Tom’s Shoes and Sevenly. What are those two businesses really? They are a shoe company and an apparel company. And aren’t there already hundreds of thousands of companies in both of those spaces already? So why did they make such a splash, create brand loyalty and astronomical sales? Because they give a portion of their sales to non-profits, and people love to feel their purchases are going to help others. Because he’s a man on a mission Cole is also spreading this message at his upcoming event, Thrive. His for-purpose event is to teach people how to make money, how to protect that money and how to make that money matter, create the most impact. And the proceeds are going to a non-profit, A Human Project our good friend Wesley Chapman spearheads. Have a listen as Cole breaks down the steps he took to create his event, and how he got some of the biggest names in the world to join him even though he had a tiny mailing list! Check it out on today’s episode of Life on Fire TV. Speaker 1: Mountain America's Money Minute: it's 60 seconds that can help you achieve your financial dreams. Jay: Hi. I'm Jay Mcfarland with KSL News Radio, and I'm here with Mountain America's Christy Zaudke. Christy, today, we want to give people some simple tips on how to turn savings into an actual habit. Christy: Saving can seem challenging, but there are some basic guidelines that can help people get started. Jay: Great. What should they do first? Christy: First, start each month with a written budget. When you understand how much money's coming in and where it's going, you can prioritize and identify areas where you can save. Jay: Then, what do they do? Christy: Then, within that budget, you want to pay yourself first, so plan to have a portion of your money go into savings before you pay anyone else. Jay: Then the third? Christy: Take advantage of technology. Use automated transfers to move money from checking to savings because if you don't see it, you're less likely to spend it. Jay: Thanks, Christy.
