How to Organise the Perfect Event -  The Event Expert

I guess I best describe myself as an events groupie - I love events: so much so that I have spent the last 22 years organising, attending, participating and writing about events – I do nothing else – well nearly nothing else ! So what I have done is create a series of event management training courses based on my experiences of organising events. I will guide you through you the event planning process from concept (the idea) to completion and every stage in between using my own 7 ½ Step Event Planning system. This video will outline my system - by the way, it's the same system I use to run my own events. My courses are practical ‘how to’ courses. No flannel: only the stuff you need to know to take an idea and turn it into a successful event. This event launches the Paulsen Programme at LSE International History Department, which has been set up to allow historians in Russia to realise their full potential in their research and to enable them to make a powerful impact within the worldwide community of historians. The core of the Programme are fellowships and grants to enable Russian historians to work in archives and attend conferences outside Russia. The Programme also includes two seminars, a final conference and publication aimed at bringing together outstanding historians of Imperial Russia, both Russian and foreign. The imperial period deserves a larger place in European, imperial and global history than it currently occupies. Nor is it possible to understand contemporary Russian politics and identity without some grasp of pre-1917 Russian history. The discussion during the launch will explain why this is the case. It will also provide insights into the history of Imperial Russia, how knowledge of this history can help Western policy-makers, and what is the current state of pre-revolutionary history in today's Russia. Dominic Lieven is Senior Research Fellow, Trinity College, Cambridge and Fellow of the British Academy and Chair of the Board of the Paulsen Programme. Janet Hartley is Professor of International History at LSE. Show that you deserve that trust by honoring the guests without getting in the way. Step 1: Make introductions Introduce yourself and start your remarks by thanking everyone for coming. Be cordial, humble, and speak for a couple minutes at the most. Give your welcome remarks genuinely, as if welcoming people into your home. Step 2: Say names correctly Refer to each special guest, having prepared by writing down their names, including how to pronounce them. Pay tribute to their successes, linking these to the event as you introduce them. Tip Double check that all your facts are correct before sharing the information. Step 3: Thanks contributors Thank those who have made the day possible, from the organizers of the event to the wait staff working the floor.
