How to Invest in Foreign Currencies

02:23
Watch more How to Invest Your Money videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/234001-How-to-Invest-in-Foreign-Currencies As with any investment, putting your money in foreign markets requires due diligence and the willingness to take risks. Step 1: Know the risks Know the risks. Trading in foreign currencies can be very profitable if you stay on top of the global economic market. But if you don't have the time or desire to do that, it also can be very risky. Step 2: Do your homework Do your homework. Research the financial strength of various nations so you'll have an informed opinion as to whether their currency will strengthen or weaken. Step 3: Open an account You can invest in foreign currency using a brokerage account, if you have one. If you have a PayPal account, hold funds in multiple currencies at no charge. Or find a bank that allows customers to keep foreign currency accounts. Tip Some banks offer FDIC-insured foreign currency accounts; this protects you up to a preset amount if a foreign bank goes bust, but doesn't cover losses caused by currency fluctuations. Step 4: Try a single play Consider buying a Certificate of Deposit in a foreign market with a better interest rate; then "sell it forward" -- you agree to sell the same amount of currency at a specific price on a future date. Known as a "single play," this protects you if the currency deflates during the duration of your CD. Step 5: Consider a double play Open a CD and gamble on a "double play," also known as an "open" or "naked" trade. If the foreign currency rises, you'll benefit both from the interest rate and the foreign currency being stronger than your own when you cash in. Just beware that you're also assuming the risk that the currency might deflate, which could wipe out the interest you made at cash-in time. Step 6: Wheel and deal Set up an online account on one of the Forex -- short for Foreign Exchange -- trading web sites. You'll be able to buy and sell foreign currencies anytime from Sunday at 5 p.m. eastern time to Friday at 5 p.m. eastern time, allowing you to cash in quickly on events that are likely to cause currency fluctuations. Did You Know? More than $1 trillion is traded in the global currency market every day.

How Exchange Rates Work

● We explain topics simply. So Subscribe if you want to learn while being entertained. ✔ Please like the video and comment if you enjoyed - it helps a lot! ▶ If you want a question answered then ask in the comments and we may make a video about it! About the video: You may have traveled a lot and wondered why you get more of one currency when you exchange it for another. If so, you have witnessed exchange rates in action, but do you know how they work? Watch the video to find out what exchange rates are, how to convert between them and the different systems which determine a currencies exchange rate. Historically the gold standard system had been used, which fixed currency to a select value of gold, held in a vault. The three main systems are the floating, managed and fixed exchange rate systems. The floating system has minimal government intervention, using supply and demand to determine the exchange rate. The managed exchange rate is allowed to be within a permitted band and a fixed exchange rate is usually pegged to a currency with the interest of being competitive in the international market. The video explains this in more detail and with helpful picture to guide you through the subject.

Money and Finance: Crash Course Economics #11

10:36
So, we've been putting off a kind of basic question here. What is money? What is currency? How are the two different. Well, not to give away too much, but money has a few basic functions. It acts as a store of value, a medium of exchange, and as a unit of account. Money isn't just bills and coins. It can be anything that meets these three criteria. In US prisons, apparently, pouches of Mackerel are currency. Yes, mackerel the fish. Paper and coins work as money because they're backed by the government, which is an advantage over mackerel. So, once you've got money, you need finance. We'll talk about borrowing, lending, interest, and stocks and bonds. Also, this episode features a giant zucchini, which Adriene grew in her garden. So that's cool. Special thanks to Dave Hunt for permission to use his PiPhone video. this guy really did make an artisanal smartphone! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eaiNsFhtI8 Crash Course is on Patreon! Technical indicators can be very daunting for beginner traders, though have to be and by then does video you have an understanding of the most common technical indicators and how they can be used to support your trading. Firstly all the indicators are going to show you are created from basic candlestick data. The auto information from the open high low and close the basic price action. If you need to learn more about the basics candlesticks and please click here three-part candlestick series. Here are some of the most common mistakes traders make the technical indicators. Don’t overload your screen with indicators and display the indicators that you actually use on your charts a lot of traders overload their charts with indicators as excuse to over trade.Remember indicators are just an indication of something happening in the market they are crystal ball trying to predict the future. Don’t blame the indicators where traders and workout no matter what indicators you use your still have to take losses in trading. Two types of indicators. There are two types of markets trending and range bound or cyber to markets. A trending market looks like this but the market is moving in one direction arrange panel Cyprus market looks like this were the market is moving up and down within a specific range indicators tend to be either suited trending or range assignment markets. Indicator one RSI. The relative strength index compares the magnitude of recent gains to recent losses in the attempt to determine overbought and oversold conditions of instrument as you can see from the chart the RSI ranges from 0 to 100. Insurance is deemed to be overbought once the RSI approaches the 70 level mean that it maybe getting overvalued and is a good candidate for pullback likewise if the RSI approaches 30, then the instrument is oversold and therefore like to reverse. Traders will often use the RSI coming back out of overbought or oversold conditions as a signal to enter the market. A trade using RSI should be whether large rallies and drops in price will affect the RSI by potentially creating false buy or sell signals traders often come by the RSI such as the MACD. Indicator two MACD. Moving average convergence divergences is one of the most well-known unused indicates in technical analysis this indicator is made of two exponential moving averages which help measure momentum henchmen. These moving averages and the changing distances between them become the MACD. Convergence means the moving averages moving closer together, divergence means they’re moving away from one another. Indicator three Bollinger bands. A Bollinger band starts off as a simple moving average and has two standard deviations plotted away from it that sounds a mouthful but the important part is because standard deviation is a measure of volatility Bollinger bands adjust themselves to current market conditions. When markets become more volatile markets widen and move further away. Enjoying less volatile periods the band’s contract moving closer together. The typing of the bands of news by technical traders as an indication there may be volatility to follow. Stock Market & Dollar CRASH Coming Soon! - What You Need To Know About The Everything Bubble

Josh Sigurdson reports on the many coming storms heading our way and what we can do to avoid them. Recently, news came out that as of the 21st of August, 2018, we will be in the longest bull run in history for the S&P500. That's an absurdly long time and it doesn't make fundamental sense. Looking at the stock market over the past many years, you'll notice that it's largely propped up by investor confidence but not actual innovations, marvels or fundamentals at all compared to what we used to see. It's hot air and that's not safe. Risk is growing with each passing day. The bubble continues to get larger and larger. Look at the growing issues with derivatives, paper contracts, share buybacks. It's all expanding at a rapid rate! Then there's the housing bubbles that are popping up everywhere (no pun intended) as we see the return of the CDOs (collateralized debt obligations), credit default swaps, mortgage backed securities, reverse mortgages, all the craziness we saw before the 2007 bubble burst. The banks are at it again! It doesn't help that interest rates are being forced upwards right now. Then there's the pension bubble. It's estimated to reach a 400 trillion dollar shortfall by the year 2050. How can that possibly be contained? Considering that those born in 2007 are set to live to 103 years old on average in the future. That's about half a lifetime living off of a pension. Impossible! Then there's the carmageddon which is similar to the housing bubble in a lot of ways. Demand is down but that's not stopping banks from releasing auto backed securities! The markets are manipulated. They're highly centralized. One day soon that euphoria will be replaced by panic. We can't forget to point out that the major banks are all bankrupt. Assessing their cash to deposit ratio, it's quite clear that that they do not have depositors covered. Then there is the most important of all. The monetary system. All fiat currencies eventually revert to their true value of zero. They always have, they always will going back to 1024AD in China! This time will be no different. It should be said that the fundamentals are off the table due to the level of manipulation in the monetary system as well as in the markets, so we cannot put a date on the coming crash, we just know it inevitably has to happen, so we want individuals to educate themselves and get prepared. Right now the Federal Reserve is desperately attempting to raise interest rates in order to avoid dropping into negative interest rates when the currency crashes. They know they had to drop rates 5.5% from 2008 to 2012 and that this time they will have to drop them much more so. They won't be able to prop up rates enough to avoid this quandary. This is why they are attempting to push their way into a global, centrally planned cashless society. The IMF and their SDR will help with that, but the power shift will likely go to China. If your money's in the bank, it's not yours, it's the bank's. If your money's always going through the banks via digital transactions and legal tender laws, it's never yours. It's always the bank's and you are essentially bowing to the government and banking system. Right where they want you. Nothing you can do about bank runs or bail ins. So remember, the most important solutions regard individuals independent of any centralized entity, financially educated and responsible. Decentralize everything, protect your purchasing power, be free! Stay tuned for more from WAM! Welcome to Real Life Trader. Warning: You will lose money if you copy me!!! Trading is risky, losses shown are real money! IMPORTANT: The risk of loss in trading futures, options, cash currencies and other leveraged transaction products can be substantial. Therefore only "risk capital" should be used. Futures Market Explained

04:27
Farmers use various tools to control the many risks in agriculture. Watching the weather influences when they plant or harvest. Buying crop insurance and selecting farm bill safety net programs helps protect them from crop devastation. But they can also manage some of the threat posed by volatile market prices by participating in the futures market. Farmers can get a feel for how that works if they play Commodity Classic, an online teaching tool that uses fictitious bushels of grain in a fake futures market. But here at Harvest Public Media, we wanted to better understand how the futures market helps both producers and users of a major commodity, such as corn. And how the benefits trickle down to regular food consumers. Here’s what we learned.

03 - What is a pip? - easyMarkets - Education

04:42
For more info visit: Easy Forex - http://www.easy-forex.com/gtw/6255274.aspx In order to trade successfully you need to understand what a pip is and how to calculate its value. A pip stands for "percentage in point" and is the smallest price change that a given exchange rate can make An increase or decrease in pips represents a profit or a loss in your forex trade. Let me explain further! When currencies are quoted, they are mainly quoted to the fourth decimal place (this is also true for silver and heating oil). Exceptions are pairs that include the Japanese yen (as well as commodities such as gold, oil, brent and gas), which are quoted to two decimal places. When we look at the EUR/USD pair and see it move from 1.3130 to 1.3131 it has moved 1 pip (because the fourth decimal point has increased by 1). A one pip move for the USD/JPY we can see as 77.60 to 77.61 (because the second decimal point has increased by 1). In major pairs quoted against the USD, we calculate the value of a pip as follows: The EUR/USD has an exchange rate of 1.3130. If 1 pip equals 0.0001, we divide 0.0001 by 1.3130 which gives us a pip value of €0.0000761. Let's turn this into a forex deal to see what the pip would represent in either a profit or loss. Deal 1: Sell €100,000 worth of EUR/USD, at 1.3130. Pip value in euro terms is 0.0000761 x 100,000 = €7.61 (or exactly $10!). If the deal is closed at 1.3120, with a 10 pip profit, the total profit would be €76.10, or $100. Deal 2: Buy $50,000 worth of USD/JPY, at 77.60. Pip value in dollar terms is 0.01/77.60 x 50,000 = $6.44 (or exactly ¥500!). If the deal is closed at 77.50, with a 10 pip loss, the total loss would be $64.43, or ¥5,000. It is our commitment to provide our traders with access to the best fixed spreads and execution methods, and this is why you may at times notice additional smaller numbers at the end of a currency rate. These numbers are referred to as "Fractional pips" and are a new pricing feature which lets you see more price action detail and helps you make more informed trading decisions. A fractional pip is a tenth of a pip and the addition of this feature to your account allows you to take advantage of smaller price increments and moves in the market. Instead of quoting prices to two or four decimals, with fractional pips we quote an extra digit. For example, normally EURUSD ask would be quoted as 1.3251, while with fractional pips we quote 1.32508, with the last smaller digit representing the fractional pip. Earlier we mentioned deals of 100,000 euros and 50,000 dollars which may have seemed quite large, especially if you are new to trading, but this is where an important factor comes in - the use of leverage. Leverage basically means you can trade larger amounts than your initial investment. View our video "What is leverage?" to find out how it is used in the forex market. You can also visit the Learn section of our website where you can explore the rest of our educational tools such as our eBook and sign up for our online webinars.

Market dynamics: currencies and commodities (15.10.2018)

03:57
Market dynamics: currencies and commodities (15.10.2018) Welcome to InstaForex TV channel. The economic news will be presented by me Kate Stikhina. You are watching the overview of the currency and commodity markets for last week. The dollar traded higher on Friday and was supported by investor confidence in the U.S. economy, despite criticism by President Donald Trump of the Federal Reserve and a sell-off in the U.S. equity market. The dollar has risen by 2.5 percent since July on expectations US interest rates will soon be raised further and on safe-haven flows from the U.S.-China trade war. But a drop in U.S. Treasury bond yields and weaker-than-forecast advance in U.S. consumer prices pushed the dollar down by half a percent on Thursday as traders cut their bets on Federal Reserve rate hikes. The euro moved down on Friday after hitting a weekly high at 1.1611 after ECB President Mario Draghi toned down his outlook for a rise in inflation from "relatively vigorous" to "gradual". ECB minutes on Thursday suggested the central bank was on track to normalize its ultra-loose monetary policy this year despite concern about slowing growth in Europe. The Japanese yen, a preferred currency in times of market turbulence, traded at 112.34 on Friday. It had strengthened to 111.83 versus the dollar on Thursday, its highest level since September 18. Meanwhile, last week was a tough week for cryptocurrencies. The total cryptocurrency market lost $18 billion of its value in the course of a few days. On Friday Bitcoin finally began to stabilize. The world's largest digital asset began to slide on Wednesday evening and dropped below $6,200 for the first time in a month. Bitcoin last traded in the $6,200 range, ending the week by about 5 percent lower. But it kicked off last week well above $6,500. Prices for oil moved higher on Friday, but signs of rising crude supplies contributed to an overall weekly loss of 4%. November West Texas Intermediate crude futures rose to settle at $71.34 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. On the week, prices shed by about 4%. Brent crude futures for December delivery closed higher at $80.43 a barrel after briefly dipping as low as $79.23. It posted a weekly decline of 4.4%. Both benchmarks shed by 3% on Thursday. They were moving in step with a two-day selloff across global stock markets. Meanwhile, gold prices ended lower on Friday, bouncing back from the highest level in more than two months as global stock markets recovered. December gold futures declined by $5.60, or nearly 0.5%, to $1,222 an ounce, a day after their highest finish since August 1. For the week, gold climbed by 1.4% — its second weekly rise in a row.
