How the Saudis ended up with so many American weapons

10:15
And why they want more. Subscribe to our channel! http://goo.gl/0bsAjO Saudi Arabia and the US have a partnership that's been in the making for over seven decades. It started after World War II and survived the Iranian Revolution, the Cold War, the Gulf War, September 11, and the proliferation of conflicts across the Middle East. This whole time, the US has been selling weapons to Saudi Arabia -- now its number one customer. Saudis bought bombs, tanks, guns, and planes over the years to defend themselves from various threats. The US supplied those weapons because the Saudi’s threats have usually been a threat to the US as well. Today, there's a shift in the relationship. Saudi Arabia’s intervention in Yemen has created the worst humanitarian disaster in the world - and thrown the Middle East into chaos. The problem is, the Saudis are using US bombs to do it. Jason Burack of Wall St for Main St interviewed first time guest, former lawyer and lobbyist, author and publisher of the very popular, The Economic Collapse Blog website (which has over 100 million page visits and articles routinely posted on Zero Hedge) http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/, Michael T. Snyder. Michael's books are available on Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/Michael-Snyder/e/B01DUPOJL2/ Michael is also very strongly considering running for Congress in 2018 in Idaho. During this 30+ minute interview, Jason asks Michael about how the real US economy is doing minus the spin about the US economy from Wall St, the Federal Reserve, the mainstream media and US government agencies like the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Michael says how the GDP for the last 10 years has the exact same average of the US GDP in the decade following the 1929 financial crisis! Jason also asks Michael about inflation, global central bank intervention into asset markets, and his popular articles about jobs in the US including his articles about retail collapsing and how the BLS' Birth/Death model created millions of fictional jobs since the "recovery" after the 2008 financial crisis. rare BENTLEY 6.5 litre SPEED SIX 1930 BLUE TRAIN special Gurney-Nutting [HD]

02:03

The Truth Behind the Empire State Building

12:21
The history of the pire State Building is full of dark stories and unusual facts. It was the first commercial building project built with the use of the fast-track construction technique. More than 3,500 men worked at the construction site. The workers were paid exceptionally well. Final construction costs are $24.7 million. The Empire State Building, with its incredible height, became a tempting destination for those who want to commit suicide. And the first suicide happens even before the Empire State Building is finished. Several people jump from the observation deck in 1947. That's when the deck gets its “suicide fence.” TIMESTAMPS: A great skyscraper race 1:11 Why a spire was added to the project plan 3:15 When excavation for the Empire State Building began 4:25 When it was completed 7:25 How long it remained the tallest building in the world 8:06 How many people commited suicide there 8:55 The most tragic event in the life of the skyscraper 10:06 #empirestatebuilding #newyorkhistory #scysсrapers Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - The story we're interested in starts in the year 1929. Walter Chrysler, the founder of Chrysler Corporation, is planning to participate in the skyscraper race. He starts the construction of the 1,046-ft Chrysler Building. - Architect William F. Lamb creates the original drawing of the future Empire State Building. This enormous task takes him only 2 weeks. The center of the building is very compact, containing toilets, shafts, hallways, vertical circulation, and mail chutes. - This enormous project is supposed to be done in a mere 18 months. General contractors Starrett Brothers and Eken win this job. They immediately get down to their unusual task. - Most probably to out-scale the Chrysler building, Mr. Raskob demands that his building should have “a hat.” That's how a crafty spire is added to the project plan. - In January 1930, excavation for the Empire State Building begins. Simultaneously, contractors demolish the original Waldorf Astoria Hotel, which was the previous occupant of the site. - The speed at which the frame of the future skyscraper rises is incredible: 4 and a half stories every week. This project becomes a model of efficiency. The contractors and engineers create different innovations that save money, manpower, and time. - Besides the steel frame, the project needs 10 million bricks, 200,000 ft² of granite and limestone, 62,000 yd³ of concrete, and 10,000 ft² of marble. On top of that, 300,000 ft² of marble is used for the office floors, hallways, and elevator lobbies. More than 3,500 men work at the construction site. - The Empire State Building is completed on April 11, 1931, well ahead of time. Instead of the planned 18 months, the construction process takes only 15. Final construction costs are $24.7 million instead of the expected $43 million. - For the length of its history, since 1931, the building has seen more than 30 people end their lives. The first suicide happens even before the Empire State Building is finished. Several people jump from the observation deck in 1947. - But the most tragic event in the life of the skyscraper takes place in 1945. On July 28, Lt. Colonel William Smith crashes a B-25 bomber into the north wall of the Empire State Building. Down and Out in Oxford

21:47
In the late 1920's a young George Orwell lived in unemployment and poverty in the slums of Paris. Eventually he got a job at "Hotel X" and in 1930 published some articles about his experiences and what they revealed to him about the most lowly and degraded people in society. These articles eventually became the book Down and Out in Paris and London. Here we are, over 80 years later, thinking that the world Orwell describes in the book is a distant memory, but I fear it is being revived. It has awoken and is planning to return... if we don't stop it!

The World Atlas Every Young Explorer Needs: Maps, Photo Essays, Resources (1999)

58:06
During the Cold War, the magazine committed itself to presenting a balanced view of the physical and human geography of nations beyond the Iron Curtain. The magazine printed articles on Berlin, de-occupied Austria, the Soviet Union, and Communist China that deliberately downplayed politics to focus on culture. In its coverage of the Space Race, National Geographic focused on the scientific achievement while largely avoiding reference to the race's connection to nuclear arms buildup. There were also many articles in the 1930s, 40s and 50s about the individual states and their resources, along with supplement maps of each state. Many of these articles were written by longtime staff such as Frederick Simpich.[11] There were also articles about biology and science topics. In later years articles became outspoken on issues such as environmental issues, deforestation, chemical pollution, global warming, and endangered species. Series of articles were included focusing on the history and varied uses of specific products such as a single metal, gem, food crop, or agricultural product, or an archaeological discovery. Occasionally an entire month's issue would be devoted to a single country, past civilization, a natural resource whose future is endangered, or other theme. In recent decades, the National Geographic Society has unveiled other magazines with different focuses. Whereas in the past, the magazine featured lengthy expositions, recent issues have shorter articles. In addition to being well known for articles about scenery, history, and the most distant corners of the world, the magazine has been recognized for its book-like quality and its standard of photography. It was during the tenure of Society President Alexander Graham Bell and editor Gilbert H. Grosvenor (GHG) that the significance of illustration was first emphasized, in spite of criticism from some of the Board of Managers who considered the many illustrations an indicator of an “unscientific” conception of geography. By 1910, photographs had become the magazine’s trademark and Grosvenor was constantly on the search for "dynamical pictures" as Graham Bell called them, particularly those that provided a sense of motion in a still image. In 1915, GHG began building the group of staff photographers and providing them with advanced tools including the latest darkroom.[12] The magazine began to feature some pages of color photography in the early 1930s, when this technology was still in its early development. During the mid-1930s, Luis Marden (1913–2003), a writer and photographer for National Geographic, convinced the magazine to allow its photographers to use the so-called "miniature" 35 mm Leica cameras loaded with Kodachrome film over bulkier cameras with heavy glass plates that required the use of tripods.[13] In 1959, the magazine started publishing small photographs on its covers, later becoming larger photographs. National Geographic photography quickly shifted to digital photography for both its printed magazine and its website. In subsequent years, the cover, while keeping its yellow border, shed its oak leaf trim and bare table of contents, to allow for a full page photograph taken for one of the month's articles. Issues of National Geographic are often kept by subscribers for years and re-sold at thrift stores as collectibles. The standard for photography has remained high over the subsequent decades and the magazine is still illustrated with some of the highest-quality photojournalism in the world.[14] In 2006, National Geographic began an international photography competition with over eighteen countries participating. In conservative Muslim countries like Iran and Malaysia, photographs featuring topless or scantily clad members of primitive tribal societies are often blacked out; buyers and subscribers often complain that this practice decreases the artistic value of the photographs for which National Geographic is world-renowned. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Geographic_(magazine)

A British publisher has been given special permission to reprint the propaganda such as the swastika and the Hitler salute, which is banned in Germany. There are also re-prints of opposition articles from the 1930's and the aim is to teach Germans about the past, without using text books. Steve Rosenberg reports.

Students of Arch. UU-Glamour & Gloom. Cat 3: Best Contribution by Young People.

02:26
The book Glamour and Gloom: 1930s architecture in Belfast was published in November 2017. It consists of texts researched and written by students of architecture and is edited by Dr Tanja Poppelreuter. The project evolved from students’ essays and dissertations and is testament of their interest in local modern architectural history. Students were enthused by learning about the context within which modern architecture was conceived in Belfast and they were also astonished and concerned to discover that these buildings are now often undervalued, derelict and at risk. Out of a general concern for the state of the buildings and the lack of awareness of their importance, the students researched and interpreted a number of 1930s structures. They visited archives and read published material including newspaper and journal articles in order to gather information and share their interest, in the hope that it would help in finding future uses for the buildings. In addition to contributing to the publication, the editor raised public awareness of these buildings through lectures and TV interviews. The project has raised interest in 1930s architecture in Belfast and it has also enabled students to get their work published and raised their confidence in writing and researching.

Uruguay v Argentina - The Final - 1930 FIFA World Cup Uruguay™

02:42
The first FIFA World Cup™ was one of a kind. Taking place wholly in the Uruguayan capital of Montevideo, the sport's inaugural showpiece was rich in details that might bemuse the modern football fan: four teams arriving together on the same boat, an unfinished stadium, even a one-armed goalscorer in the Final. Yet it ended with a familiar outpouring of joy as the whole of Uruguay took a public holiday after La Celeste became the first world champions by defeating neighbours Argentina 4-2.

That Time the US Government Poisoned Alcohol

The alcohol we drink is just one particular kind of alcohol: ethanol. The others can be a lot more dangerous, and in the 1920s, the US government made a really dangerous cocktail. Pluto And Charon Fantastic LOVE STORY... Don't miss!

05:51
Subscribe! https://goo.gl/JTfP6L Hello, everyone. Welcome to our channel. In today’s video Smart Banana will tell you about the cutest romantic journey in the solar system - a dwarf planet binary system. We’re talking about Pluto and its moon Charon. Do you want to know what’s so special about these two? Please, keep watching. Pluto was discovered in 1930 by Clyde W. Tombaugh at the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff Arizona. Back then scientists believed that there should be more than 8 planets in the Solar System. After a year of observations, scientists finally discovered Planet X, that later was named Pluto after the Roman god of the underworld. Until the discovery of Charon in 1978, scientists weren’t sure about the Pluto’s real size and mass. Today the most accurate measurement by the New Horizons spacecraft gives the size of Pluto at 1,500 miles across. Pluto is actually a really small piece of rock. With the development of advanced space technologies, scientists found out that there are at least 70,000 icy objects, with the same composition as Pluto, that measures 100 km across or more in the Kuiper Belt. That’s why, according to the new rules, Pluto isn’t a planet anymore. Pluto is sad. We’re sad. Even if Pluto isn’t a planet anymore, it still keeps the title of Kuiper Object Heavyweight Champion with its 5 moons. One of them is Charon. They’re a wonderful pair: 2 cold icy worlds, spinning around their common center of gravity like a pair of figure skaters clasping hands. Isn’t it romantic? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our Social Media: Facebook: http://facebook.com/enjoy.science/ The Bright Side of Youtube: https://goo.gl/rQTJZz 5-Minute Crafts Youtube: https://www.goo.gl/8JVmuC ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For more videos and articles visit: http://www.brightside.me/
