And today I looked into a couple of tweets by Donald Trump accusing Google and other tech companies of being biased against him and showing only bad news and not good news about him. The upshot is that there hasn't been any real proof that there is a bias in tech companies. At the same time this is an issue that comes up again and again. Tech companies like Google, Twitter and Facebook have long been accused of being biased against conservatives. They have denied this." GOOGLE.COM - AP CLIENTS ONLY Internet - August 28, 2018 3. Google Me: A Discourse Analysis of the World's Leading Search Engine (Part 1 of 2)

08:09
Taking a Foucauldian point of view that individual identity and subjectivity are created at least in part discursively, this paper suggests that as more and more of human interaction and knowledge gathering takes place online, the discourses propagated by the leading Internet companies are important sites of critique and study. As such, this paper examines the discourses of one of the largest Internet companies to consider the narratives that are created and reinforced through Google's online corporate communications. This paper applies a mixed methods grounded theory analysis to Google's About pages and weblog from 2006 - 2011. First, a content analysis is conducted to reveal common themes, and then these themes are interrogated in more detail to reveal the most prominent narratives that Google uses to describe technology, information, and the role of the human technology user. Of particular interest are the questions: How is technology and progress contextualized on the Google blog? What issues does Google identify as being most important? How does Google speak about the issues of information access and filtering? What problems does Google seek to solve with its products? And finally, how does Google construct the citizen subject in its text? Together, these discourses reveal certain ideologies about technology and the role of the human being as consumer that could reinforce Google's position as the technocratic leaders of an information economy. In helping to maintain Google's elite status with respect to new digital technologies, these discourses may or may not be in the best interests of the citizens who turn to Google for help navigating the online sea of information.Virtual presentation for the 2013 Technology, Knowledge and Society Conference. How to analyze Google SERP and competitors

02:19
We’re going to take a look at Google SERP competitor analysis with more than 45 SEO metrics and a lot of useful features. Let’s start with a keyword we want to analyze. We’ll select our desired location and the type of the results we want to see: desktop or mobile. Besides the common organic search results, we started implementing the SERP features detection, such as top stories, people also ask, featured snippets, answer boxes and many others. All values are colored so we easily identify what’s behind the numbers. Green means low and red is high. The first column shows the organic position, the visibility above the page fold and the CTR influenced by the position itself. Keep in mind the CTR may be affected by the appearance of SERP features. The LPS (Link Profile Strength) represents how hard is to compete with a website on a particular position. Once we’re done with the analysis, we can export the results as a CSV file with selected or all metrics for clients or for the future. Go ahead and try it yourself. http://fifteenhours-creepystories.tumblr.com/post/161861026245/creepypasta-1161-google-reverse-image-search "Have you guys heard of this “reverse image search” thing? I hadn’t until recently. I was doing a paper on influential artists of the 21st century and came across it when asking who painted this one thing. Someone on Reddit said to “just reverse image search it!” and sent me a link to Google images. As it turns out, you can just drag and drop a photo saved on your computer into the search box, and the system will look for other images that are similar to yours. With popular images like a famous painting, this will usually lead you to a website or article about that painting. This made the rest of my paper a breeze to write. I was able to save the paintings off of my professor’s online instructions, reverse image search them and then throw together a paragraph or two about the painting, the artist and their influence, and so on. I finished my paper and thought I could have some fun with this new tool." Search Engine Optimization Keyword Analysis : Learn SEO Step by Step Module 1 by UnSEO.co

09:42
Learn Search Engine Optimization Keyword Analysis step by step. Learn to use keyword planner and select the best keywords. Module 1 It all begins with words typed into a search box. Keyword research is one of the most important, valuable, and high return activities in the search marketing field. Ranking for the right keywords can make or break your website. By researching your market’s keyword demand, you can not only learn which terms and phrases to target with SEO, but also learn more about your customers as a whole. It’s not always about getting visitors to your site, but about getting the right kind of visitors. The usefulness of this intelligence cannot be overstated; with keyword research you can predict shifts in demand, respond to changing market conditions, and produce the products, services, and content that web searchers are actively seeking. In the history of marketing, there has never been such a low barrier to entry in understanding the motivations of consumers in virtually any niche. How to Judge the Value of a Keyword How much is a keyword worth to your website? If you own an online shoe store, do you make more sales from visitors searching for “brown shoes” or “black boots”? The keywords visitors type into search engines are often available to webmasters, and keyword research tools allow us to find this information. However, those tools cannot show us directly how valuable it is to receive traffic from those searches. To understand the value of a keyword, we need to understand our own websites, make some hypotheses, test, and repeat—the classic web marketing formula. A basic process for assessing a keyword’s value Is the keyword relevant to your website’s content? Will searchers find what they are looking for on your site when they search using these keywords? Will they be happy with what they find? Will this traffic result in financial rewards or other organizational goals? If the answer to all of these questions is a clear “Yes!” then proceed … Search for the term/phrase in the major engines Understanding which websites already rank for your keyword gives you valuable insight into the competition, and also how hard it will be to rank for the given term. Are there search advertisements running along the top and right-hand side of the organic results? Typically, many search ads means a high-value keyword, and multiple search ads above the organic results often means a highly lucrative and directly conversion-prone keyword. Buy a sample campaign for the keyword at Google AdWords and/or Bing Adcenter If your website doesn’t rank for the keyword, you can nonetheless buy test traffic to see how well it converts. InGoogle Adwords, choose “exact match” and point the traffic to the relevant page on your website. Track impressions and conversion rate over the course of at least 200-300 clicks. Using the data you’ve collected, determine the exact value of each keyword For example, assume your search ad generated 5,000 impressions in one day, of which 100 visitors have come to your site, and three have converted for a total profit (not revenue!) of $300. In this case, a single visitor for that keyword is worth $3 to your business. Those 5,000 impressions in 24 hours could generate a click-through rate of between 18-36% with a #1 ranking (see the Slingshot SEO study for more on potential click-through rates), which would mean 900-1800 visits per day, at $3 each, or between 1 and 2 million dollars per year. No wonder businesses love search marketing! Keyword Research Keyword Difficulty What are my chances of success? In order to know which keywords to target, it’s essential to not only understand the demand for a given term or phrase, but also thework required to achieve high rankings. If big brands take the top 10 results and you’re just starting out on the web, the uphill battle for rankings can take years of effort. This is why it’s essential to understand keyword difficulty. Different tools around the web help provide this information. One of these, Moz’s own Keyword Analysis Tool does a good job collecting all of these metrics and providing a comparative score for any given search term or phrase.

Search Console Helper Features: Backlink Analysis - Semalt

05:48
Visit us - https://semalt.com/?ref=y Search Console Helper is a PC SEO tool that extends the capability of Google Search Console with more data, advanced filtering options and the ability to keep historical data beyond 90 days. Read the complete list of features: http://searchconsolehelper.com/features/ Download Search Console Helper for free: http://searchconsolehelper.com/ Video transcript: Today, I would like to introduce you to a completely new and unique set of features we've just added to Search Console Helper. These features are designed to help you better manage your incoming links. When you upgrade to the version 1.6.1, you will see a new page in the top navigation menu: Links page. The first thing we need to do is upload a list of links, as a csv file that you downloaded from Google Search Console. As you can see, I've just imported a file with 540 links and the data imported included the URL of the linking page and the date Google discovered it. Of course, you can create your own CSV file with your own list of URLs that you grabbed from other tools. All you need to make sure is that the CSV file is in the format that looks like this... 2 columns, the URL and the date. Once uploaded to Search Console Helper, the real fun starts... The big deal is the Start button over here. When you click it, the Search Console Helper crawler will start visiting each and every URL on your list, grab the entire HTML code of each page and store it in your computer's RAM (random access memory). As you can see, the data in the table is being filled out. Of course, you can pause the crawling and resume it later, as you want. Here's the data you will be getting from this action: The Found checkbox will indicate that the backlink was actually found. The Code and Status columns indicate the response code of the page... 200 OK ... 404 Not Found ... 301 Permanently Moved... etc. The Content Type will indicate if the page is an HTML document, PDF file, or something else. The Length column will indicate the size of the document in bites. So, this page, for example, is about 150 kilobites. Now, before I talk about this last column here: Context of Search term/URL, notice that the domain name of your site has been automatically pre-filled in the Search term/URL box. Also pre-filled, were the standard search values. Probably, the most important search value, besides the search term is is Characters /- This tells Search Console Helper to display 200 characters before and 200 characters after the first occurrence of the search terms found in the code of the page ... in this case, the search term is searchconsolehelper.com Now, when you hover over the Context column, you can see the full /- 200 characters of the code. This allows you to analyze in detail the exact context in which the link is placed, right from inside Search Console Helper. To our knowledge, no other tool on the market currently has this capability! Of course, you can change the search term to anything you want... be it your competitor's domain name, another string of text or a piece of HTML code (nofollow). You can also filter the data, for example by selecting only those that are not found. Additionally, over here, is a quick snapshot of you links file: total number of links XXX, of those YY were crawled, ZZ links were found to exist, across AA separate domains (B of which were not found). Clicking the Domains button will display the complete list of root domains and the count of link occurrences on each. All of this allows you for a really powerful analysis of the linking pages and there are many things you can do with this. You can, of course, export the entire data set into an Excel file. Or, you can create a sub-list of URLs and then export it in a TXT format to submit to Google for disavowing. Have fun with this new feature and let us know what you think! 0b7031e8a316d5dece6e8257a33ee640
