How to protect the formulas Excel. It's the basic part of Excel.
For example I have this table but if you see anyone who has accessed this sheet and charge this formula they can add or delete anything on the formula and it's wrong. Basically I'd like to protect it. So let see how to protect the formula.
How to prohibit a user from charging the content of the formula. So, to understand how to protect Excel and for understanding the basic property of Excel if you click any blank cell and then if you go to Alignment and to Protecting then you will see that this blank cell is by default locked but not hidden. This cell is also locked because it's the basic default property of Excel.
Now if you want to protect this sheet. The first step is to select whole sheet and go to Alignment and to Protecting then remove the locked from all the cells and click OK.
So there are no protection on any cells. Now you have to apply the Protection on cells which have the formula you want to protect and then go to Alignment and to Protecting again. Click locked for them click OK. These selected cells are locked and remaining area is unlocked the right click on sheet and go to Protect sheet.
The final step in protecting you sheet. Fill your password it should be short and easy for to remember. Click OK. After that reenter your password and click OK.
Finished... So the selected cells are not allowed to be charged or edit anything.
If someone trying to edit your formula or you data. It will show "The cell or chart that you are trying to charge is protected and there for read-only" But other cells you can charge and edit except the selected cells you locked.
If you want to unlock this cells right click on sheet and go to unprotect sheet. Fill you password and click OK. Now you can charge or edit anything. This is one of basic trick of excel.
